About the role

TEACH is seeking a part-time (10 to 20 hours per week) social media copywriter and content creator/designer to provide support for our early childhood initiative in Colorado. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, collaborative, and creative problem solver committed to advancing educational equity and making an impact on the educator workforce.

In this role, you will work closely with the social media manager, marketing director, and the content and design team to create social media content (posts, stories, reels, etc.), with a focus on recruiting early childhood educators in Colorado. You’ll also help track results of our posts to inform future campaigns. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of education marketing on social channels.

This individual excels at working autonomously and collaboratively on cross-functional projects to make sure deadlines are met and ongoing processes are operating efficiently. They have strong copywriting and design skills and an enduring commitment to individual and team success. They operate with a growth mindset and are interested in meeting and strategically addressing the evolving needs of early-stage initiatives.

About the organization

TEACH is a national nonprofit founded by the U.S. Department of Education. Our mission is to end the national teacher shortage and diversify the teaching profession. We are rebranding teaching and reinventing how the teaching profession recruits, meeting future teachers where they are – online, on their phones, and on social media.

TEACH partners with state educatio n agencies, school districts, educator preparation programs, and other like-minded organizations to increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of the next generation of teachers. Our expanding list of partner regions include: Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Colorado, Connecticut, Houston, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Job responsibilities

Assist with content and design creation for all TEACH social media channels.Write copy for paid and organic social media campaigns.

Assist with the creation of social media images, GIFs, and video cuts for paid and organic channels on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.Schedule organic social media posts across all platforms.Interpret data and the behavior of our audiences on our content pieces to share with the team and inform future content and messaging.Work closely with the content team to ensure all content is in line with org-wide creative themes and on-brand.Assist in updating / customizing outreach toolkits to support promotion of early childhood initiative.

Assist with other marketing projects and campaigns.Assist with updating, tracking, responding to and collecting performance data of advertising posts on various channels.

Receive, route and/or implement social media requests from regional partners.Contribute to campaign analysis, optimization, and reporting.

Collaborate with the TEACH team to meet deliverables and report on progress.Maintain communication with internal stakeholders, reporting on timelines, blockers, and project status. Develop recommendations to overcome blockers and escalate issues to the Program Manager when necessary.

On a monthly basis, provide high-level insights on initiative success, and provide strategic input on improving initiative processes and efficiency.Qualifications

Produces timely, accurate, and quality work product in both independent and collaborative settings (with equal comfort in either setting).
Able to follow a Visual and Communication Style Guide; write effective content for social media and digital ads; and design static, video, and animated posts and ads for all digital channels.
Previous use of or ability to learn third-party social scheduling applications (e.g., Buffer), and experience with graphic design and video production, especially for social media.
Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Hootsuite. Knowledge of basic page design using a content management system is a plus (e.g., Drupal, Unbounce, Squarespace, Wordpress, Hubspot).
Adept at assessing and reporting on social media performance. Can analyze data to glean insights and recommend efficiencies.
Tailors communication based on audience, setting and intended outcomes. Adept at aligning writing and design to TEACH’s brand and key messages.
Operates from a place of curiosity, and is energized by feedback.
Prefers working in a tech-forward environment and easily adapts to new digital tools.
Able to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time based on impact.
Able to build strong cross-functional relationships and navigate the complexities of remote work to manage project deliverables.
Possesses an understanding of their own identity related to the work of diversifying the teaching profession and a willingness to continue learning about issues of race, power, diversity and equity.

Background & logistics

2+ years of copywriting experience for digital campaigns.
The skills required to succeed in this role are those typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program (degree in marketing, communications, or English a plus).
Must be physically located in the continental U.S.
Demonstrated passion or experience in advancing equity, preferably in education.

Timeframe

The ideal start date for this position is December 1, 2023. We anticipate the role extending through August 2024, but this may shift depending on available funding.

- Experience with social listening tools to gather insights and inform content creation
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and keyword research
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online branding strategies
- Video editing skills are a plus
