Multimedia Graphic Designer
Industry: Fortune 500 Insurance company
Location: Newark, NJ (hybrid; 3-4 days onsite, 1-2 days remote)
Duration: contract until EOY
Pay rate: $49/hr-$52/hr
We are seeking a highly skilled Designer to join our creative team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing long-form and data-rich materials for print and digital, including reports, brochures, presentations and interactive PDFs. This role requires strong typography and layout skills, a sharp eye for detail, and proven expertise in making documents ADA compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and produce editorial materials, including reports, white papers, brochures, fact sheets and thought leadership pieces, for print and digital.
• Build and format presentation decks in PowerPoint, following brand templates and standards.
• Create accessible PDFs that meet ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA standards, including tagging, reading order, alt text and table structure.
• Test and fix documents with accessibility tools such as Acrobat Pro and PAC.
• Lay out charts, tables and data visualizations clearly and accurately.
• Prepare print-ready files and work with vendors on production specs.
• Apply brand guidelines consistently across all deliverables.
• Work with writers, marketers and compliance reviewers to handle edits and revision rounds on tight timelines.
• Build and maintain templates, style sheets and file libraries for reuse.
• Stay current on design and accessibility best practices.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of professional experience in editorial, publication or document design.
• Portfolio showing long-form print and digital work.
Skills:
• Expert in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Acrobat Pro.
• Advanced PowerPoint skills, including master slides and templates.
• Basic motion editing skills
• Proven hands-on experience remediating PDFs to accessibility standards.
• Strong typography, grid and layout skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with compliance review workflows.
• Experience making Word and PowerPoint files accessible.
• Accessibility certification (for example, IAAP CPACC or Adobe accessibility training).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a detail-driven designer who is equally comfortable building a 40-page report, cleaning up a sales deck and tagging a PDF for screen readers. They are proactive, collaborative and able to own projects from layout through final accessible delivery.
The salary range for this position is $49/hr to $52/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
