Description: Mission Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Technical Editor / Writer to join our team of qualified individuals. This position is at our Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego CA. This position is fully onsite remote work is not available.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will support a wide array of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of technical publications for a large defense program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Editing plans technical reports test procedures statements of work user manuals operation manuals requirement specifications validation documents and proposal volumes.
- Working with Subject Matter Experts SMEs to ensure clear and accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborating with Configuration Management and Quality Mission Assurance for document publication and delivery.
- Capturing meeting minutes and action items for technical exchange meetings TEMs and design reviews.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree with 5 years of related experience OR a Masters degree with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD with 1 year of related experience
Current DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program SAP clearance
Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documents and experience working with SMEs to improve and clarify technical documentation.
Excellent technical writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout.
Proficient with Microsoft Word PowerPoint Excel Visio and SharePoint plus Adobe Acrobat.
Well-organized detailed-oriented self-starter who enjoys challenges and works well in teams and independently.
Exceptional organizational skills to include the ability to multitask must be focused on program’s documentation requirements and deadlines.
Outstanding communication interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management as well as the customer.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of contractual requirements (SOWs and Data Item Descriptions DIDs) and Configuration Management processes.
Understanding of program Security Classification Guides SCGs to determine document portion markings.
Proposal experience such as authoring Basis of Estimates BOEs and editing Technical Volumes.
Experience using Agile framework and Jira best practices.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
