DESIGN A MARKETPLACE PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND AND TRUST
SALERRU is building a mobile-first consumer-to-consumer marketplace focused on making buying and selling safer, clearer, and more dependable.
We are seeking a Head of Product Design & User Experience to define how SALERRU works and feels across the complete customer journey. You will help shape the product from early concepts through high-fidelity design, usability testing, implementation, and launch.
This is a hands-on design leadership role for someone who can simplify complex marketplace interactions, build trust through thoughtful design, and collaborate closely with engineering and company leadership.
COMPENSATION AND ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURE
This is an equity-based independent-contractor opportunity with an early-stage, founder-led startup.
SALERRU is not currently offering a cash salary, hourly wage, employee benefits, or guaranteed cash compensation for this role. Any equity award will be documented in a written agreement and will be subject to vesting, company approval, applicable securities requirements, and SALERRU’s governing documents.
Applicants should carefully consider this structure before applying.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
• Define the product experience for SALERRU’s mobile-first marketplace.
• Map buyer, seller, account, listing, discovery, communication, transaction, and support journeys.
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready interface designs.
• Develop and maintain a consistent design system.
• Design for trust, clarity, safety, accessibility, and ease of use.
• Conduct practical user research and usability testing.
• Turn research findings into clear product recommendations.
• Work closely with frontend and backend engineering during implementation.
• Review completed interfaces and identify inconsistencies or usability problems.
• Balance customer needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and launch timelines.
• Help establish SALERRU’s long-term product-design standards.
• Protect confidential product concepts, research, intellectual property, and undisclosed initiatives.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product or user-experience design work.
• Experience designing mobile applications, responsive websites, or complex digital products.
• Ability to explain the problem, your personal contribution, your decisions, and the final outcome.
• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Understanding of design systems, responsive behavior, accessibility, and developer handoff.
• Strong visual, interaction, information-architecture, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to receive feedback and work collaboratively with founders and engineers.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity in an early-stage startup.
• Marketplace, e-commerce, payments, trust-and-safety, or consumer-product experience is helpful but not required.
A traditional degree is not required. The quality of your thinking, portfolio, and demonstrated ownership matters more.
DESIGN EVALUATION
Candidates who advance may be invited to complete a role-relevant design evaluation or portfolio discussion at SALERRU’s office.
Participation during SALERRU’s recruiting keynote is optional. Candidates may instead schedule the evaluation for another available time.
