About The Mediterranean Dish
The Mediterranean Dish is the top online destination for modern Mediterranean recipes and lifestyle. Founded in 2014 by two-time New York Times bestselling author Suzy Karadsheh, a frequent guest on national TV including the Today Show, we've grown into a multimedia brand reaching millions of home cooks across our website, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest. We also have our own line of olive oils and spices and lead culinary tours through the Mediterranean.
We're a small, close-knit team in Alpharetta, Georgia, on a mission to help people eat well and live joyfully, the Mediterranean way. This role puts you at the center of it all, shaping how millions of people experience our food, follow us, and lean into our Mediterranean vibe.
About the Role
40 hours, Contractor-to-Hire
We're looking for a social-first Content Creator to bring The Mediterranean Dish to life on camera. You'll concept, shoot, and edit the short-form video that drives our brand on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest, with some photography alongside it. Most of what you create will feature Suzy cooking in her home studio.
This role is equal parts creator and collaborator. You'll bring ideas from Suzy and the team to life with polish and speed, and you'll bring your own: spotting trends, pitching concepts, and shaping stories that stop the scroll. Either way, you'll own it from shoot to edit and deliver it ready to post. If you're an excellent video maker who is always capturing ideas and experimenting with new formats, we'd love to hear from you.
A strong portfolio is required to be considered. Please include short-form social video, food or lifestyle work, photography, and any creator-focused projects. We welcome creator, agency, brand, and broadcast backgrounds; your portfolio is what decides it. For each piece, note your role (shot, edited, or both) and share performance results where you can. Finalists will complete a short paid test edit using our raw footage.
What You'll Do
- Concept, film, and edit short-form vertical video for Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Pinterest. This is the top priority of the role.
- Pitch concepts, plan shoots, and shape each video's arc (hook, build, payoff). You may also write hooks and scripts as required.
- Capture food at its most irresistible (the pour, the steam, the crack, the bite) and know which angle and moment will land.
- Shoot food with real technique (macro, slow motion, overhead rigs, and smooth gimbal movement) and keep every plate camera-ready on set: hero plates, timing the steam, fresh garnish.
- Edit for retention: a strong first second or two, tight pacing, seamless transitions, on-screen text and captions, and color grading etc.
- Capture and design great sound including ASMR-worthy food audio (the sizzle, the crunch, the pour), clean voiceover and talking-to-camera audio.
- Design cover frames and thumbnails that earn the tap.
- Film recipe steps clearly and accurately so viewers can cook along, partnering with our recipe team on key moments and measurements.
- Film Suzy and occasionally family, friends or coworkers naturally, directing on-camera moments, talking-to-camera segments, and candid portraits.
- Capture Suzy's warmth and storytelling so she looks and sounds her best on camera.
- Tailor every piece to its platform (pacing, format, length, and aspect ratio) rather than reusing one cut everywhere.
- Track social trends, platform updates, cultural moments, and creator best practices, and bring fresh formats to the table.
- Work with social media/marketing team and use engagement and performance data to refine your work, then test and scale the concepts that win.
- Plan production against our content calendar and manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- Uphold brand standards while continually evolving our creative approach.
Publishing and community management are handled by our Social Media team, who you'll partner with on what's performing.
What You Bring

- Skilled shooting stunning content on both iPhone and DSLR/mirrorless; most shoots are phone-first.

- Expert short-form video editing for social. A proven ability to edit for engagement and conversion: you know what makes people stop, watch, share, save, follow, click, and shop.
- A strong portfolio of highly engaging social-first video, storytelling, and photography.
- A solid grasp of social platforms best practices, audience engagement, and content performance metrics.
- Comfort directing and photographing people, including lighting for skin tones and capturing natural, candid moments.

What Success Looks Like
- Consistently delivering quality finished, ready-to-post videos per week. Number of videos will vary.
