Overview
Quarterhill builds innovative transportation technology across three verticals — Tolling, ITS, and Multimodal. Our products are technically deep and our buyers are sophisticated, which means our copy has to do two things at once: respect the complexity and stay genuinely readable.
We’re bringing on a contract copywriter to help us move a full slate of copy forward over the next three months. You’ll write for our website, product brochures, and a backlog of social content — turning dense, technical source material into clear, confident copy that a busy B2B reader actually wants to read.
This is a hands-on, high-output engagement. We’re looking for someone who can pick up a technical brief, ask the right questions, and come back with strong copy fast.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Website copy. Write and refresh pages across our three product verticals — landing pages, product pages, and supporting content — as part of an active site build.
- Brochures and collateral. Produce product brochures, spec sheets, and one-pagers that make complex systems easy to understand and easy to act on.
- Social backlog. Clear a queue of social content (primarily LinkedIn), adapting existing material and writing fresh posts that carry a consistent voice.
- Work from technical source docs, product specs, and subject-matter experts, translating them into plain, benefit-led language.
- Turn drafts around quickly and iterate against feedback without losing momentum.
This list of responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may evolve based on business needs.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
- A track record of taking complex, technical subject matter and making it clear and readable — ideally in B2B tech, engineering, or a similarly technical field.
- Comfort working at pace, with quick turnarounds and multiple pieces in flight at once.
- A self-starter mindset: you can take a brief, run with it, and manage your own throughput with minimal oversight.
- Range across formats — long-form web, tight collateral copy, and short-form social — while holding a consistent brand voice.
- Strong self-editing; you deliver clean copy that needs light review, not a rewrite.
Nice To Have
- Experience writing in transportation, infrastructure, IoT/hardware, or another technically dense B2B category.
- Comfort working inside a modern marketing stack; we use HubSpot, Figma, and Lovable, and you’ll collaborate closely with design.
- Portfolio samples that show a “before and after” — technical input turned into readable output. Logistics
- Roughly three months, with the possibility of extension based on fit and workload.
- Remote-friendly; you’ll collaborate with our marketing and design team on shared briefs and timelines.
- A formal degree isn’t required — we care about the quality of your writing and your ability to deliver.
