Role Overview
Location: New York City (hybrid, must be local and available to come into office)
Type: Freelance to start, with a path to full-time. In-house only, please don’t pitch us agencies :)
Stackwell is looking for a versatile, detail-oriented Social Media & Marketing Manager to create content for our social, email, and marketing channels. You'll partner closely with our CMO, Community Manager, and graphic designers to bring campaigns and content to life, from punchy social captions to writing our monthly newsletter (The Stack Up) to developing and making scroll-stopping video posts.
This role starts as a freelance engagement with the opportunity to convert to full-time based on mutual fit. We expect 20 hours/week, with a conversion conversation after approximately 6 months.
What You'll Do
Content & Copywriting
- Write and own most copy across social, email, and broader marketing channels, ensuring a consistent voice that reflects Stackwell's brand
- Develop social captions, post copy, and campaign messaging in partnership with the CMO, Community Manager, and Compliance Officers to keep brand voice aligned across organic content and community responses
- Draft and manage email marketing content
- Collaborate with the Community Manager on messaging for in-app support, DMs, and comment responses to maintain a unified brand voice across support and marketing touchpoints
- Support Product Team with copy as needed, reviewing app experiences for consistent brand voice across touchpoints and new features
- Contribute to media kits to launch new programs, including press releases and social posts for Stackwell and partners
- Assist with email communication to guide participants through our various partnership programs
Social Content Creation
- Concept, plan, and produce static and video social content across Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and LinkedIn
- Partner with CMO and graphic designer to bring concepts to life, providing feedback through the design and edit process
- Assist in shaping our content calendar to align organic posts with campaigns, product updates, and seasonal or cultural moments
- Repurpose and adapt content across formats and platforms to maximize reach and efficiency
Cross-Functional Support
- Support ongoing community-building initiatives with copy and creative ideas as needed
- Assist with ambassador and seed program communications, providing marketing materials and messaging support as needed
- Flag content or messaging opportunities surfaced from social sentiment and customer feedback
- Work with senior leadership to draft thought leadership pieces for LinkedIn and other placements that strengthen Stackwell’s position in this space
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in social media, content, or marketing roles, with a strong portfolio spanning social and email
- Proven ability to write in a distinct brand voice across multiple formats and channels
- Exceptional communication skills. You can articulate your thinking, defend it when needed, be humble when Compliance or Legal are involved, problem solve, and show up positively, ready to collaborate.
- Experience briefing and collaborating with designers or creative partners (you don't need to design, but you do need to know how to develop concepts and work with other creatives)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple channels and deadlines simultaneously
- Basic video and image editing skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Proficiency with MailChimp or similar email marketing platforms
- Working knowledge of Buffer social scheduling and content management
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, small-team environment with minimal oversight
- Passion for financial wellness, wealth building, and serving underrepresented communities. We are Stacker obsessed!
Nice to have:
- Experience in fintech, finance, or another mission-driven/values-led company
- Experience in writing product copy
- Familiarity with tools like Canva, Edits, CapCut, and OpusOne
- Experience creating content for or marketing to multicultural communities or other underrepresented audiences
