Position Overview
KSS is seeking experienced Technical Writers interested in supporting future federal government and Department of War programs.
Technical Writers may support IT modernization, cybersecurity, knowledge management, program management, governance, and other mission-support environments by developing clear, accurate, and compliant technical and operational documentation.
This is a talent-pipeline posting for anticipated contract opportunities and does not represent an immediate funded vacancy. Employment will be contingent upon contract award, specific task-order requirements, funding, and customer approval, as applicable.
Potential Responsibilities
Depending on the specific contract, responsibilities may include:
* Develop, review, edit, and maintain technical documentation, policies, procedures, SOPs, plans, guides, and technical manuals.
* Translate complex technical information into clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Support cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation.
* Develop or update documentation aligned with NIST, DoD/DoW, Army, DISA, or other federal requirements.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals, engineers, system administrators, program managers, ISSOs/ISSMs, and other SMEs.
* Conduct document reviews, gap analyses, and content validation.
* Support document configuration management, version control, and lifecycle management.
* Develop process maps, workflows, templates, and standardized documentation.
* Organize and maintain information within SharePoint or other knowledge-management environments.
* Support knowledge capture and transfer across programs and technical teams.
* Participate in documentation reviews and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should possess a combination of the following:
* 3+ years of technical writing, technical documentation, knowledge management, or related professional experience.
* Experience supporting federal government or DoD/DoW organizations preferred.
* Experience documenting IT, cybersecurity, cloud, enterprise systems, or technical operations.
* Familiarity with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, cybersecurity policies, security controls, or authorization documentation is highly desirable.
* Experience developing policies, SOPs, technical manuals, CONOPS, implementation guides, or governance documentation.
* Experience working with technical SMEs and translating technical requirements into usable documentation.
* Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint skills.
* Excellent written communication, editing, research, organization, and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently while supporting distributed technical and program teams.
Security Clearance
An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance is highly desirable for certain anticipated opportunities.
Candidates without an active clearance are also encouraged to apply. Clearance requirements will vary by contract, and some positions may require candidates to possess or be eligible to obtain the appropriate security clearance.
