JOB OVERVIEW
The Social Video Marketing & Media Manager is a hands-on creative role within Apex for Youth's Marketing team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Growth & Data. This person owns and scales our social-first video content across all platforms and channels, leading day-to-day production while helping shape the long-term growth of Apex's video presence.
They run the full production cycle themselves, from the first idea through directing, shooting, and editing, and can take a piece all the way to publication without handing it off. Much of the work happens in the field, alongside youth, families, staff, and partners, where the ability to read a room and put people at ease is what lets real, unscripted moments come through on camera.
The role also shapes Apex's content strategy, editorial direction, and recurring video series, turning the work our programs do and our community's stories into videos that audiences actually watch and share. We're looking for someone with a documentary instinct for the honest moment who also keeps a close eye on what performs, so the content both conveys the mission and reaches as many people as possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Video Creative Development & Production (40%)
- Conceive, shoot, and edit high-quality social-first content across platforms, from quick turnaround social cuts to larger-scale storytelling campaigns for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and beyond.
- Capture content at events, programs, and community moments, including work with youth, families, staff, partners, and notables.
- Adapt content formats and approaches in response to emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience engagement patterns.
- Enable evergreen storytelling and partnership opportunities by surfacing reusable voices, stories, and assets
- Explore and establish video styles and tone to meet the overall marketing needs.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Growth & Data to align content execution with performance insights and growth goals.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Prep (15%)
- Collaborate with the Sr. Marketing Manager to align the editorial calendar and identify content opportunities based on department goals, programming priorities, and cultural moments.
- Own pre-production end to end: shot lists, treatments, scheduling, location scouting, and on-camera talent coordination, so every shoot has a plan before you ever hit record.
- Brief and prep speakers, youth, and staff ahead of time, so they feel comfortable and camera-ready when it counts.
- Bring a creative point of view into cross-team planning and video ownership, and pitching story angles, formats, and fresh approaches early, so content isn't an afterthought tacked onto a program but baked into how teams think from the start.
Media and Production Management (10%)
- Maintain and update Apex’s speaker and media database, including staff experts, youth speakers, alumni, and board members.
- Prep the gear and the logistics: confirm equipment is charged, packed, and shoot-ready; scout the space; and have a backup plan for when the light, the room, or the schedule doesn't cooperate.
- Manage media releases and consent, especially for youth and families, so every story is captured and shared responsibly and in line with Apex's standards.
- Organize, maintain, and tag content assets (video, photography, graphics) in shared drives or asset management systems.
- Ensure content is properly archived and easily accessible for future use.
- Establish and maintain clear systems and workflows for content storage and retrieval
