About 2B Consulting Co.
2B Consulting Co. is a growing marketing and consulting agency helping small businesses and organizations tell their stories, strengthen their brands, and grow through authentic, strategic marketing.
We believe great marketing shouldn't feel generic. Every client has a different story, audience, personality, and goal, and our job is to understand those differences and create marketing that actually reflects who they are.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for a creative, strategic, and proactive Social Media Manager who can take ownership of our clients' social media presence from strategy through execution.
This is not simply a scheduling or content-posting position. We're looking for someone who can think strategically, write well, create content, communicate confidently with clients, and recognize opportunities without needing to be told every next step.
The Role
As Social Media Manager, you'll manage a portfolio of 2B Consulting Co. clients and help turn their larger marketing strategies into consistent, engaging social media content.
You'll work closely with our CEO and Marketing Strategist on overall client direction and with our Operations Director to manage timelines, workflow, and deliverables.
From there, we want you to own the social media process for your assigned accounts.
That means understanding what's happening in a client's business, planning their content, writing copy, identifying creative needs, communicating with the client, creating or editing content when appropriate, and making sure everything moves from idea to published content.
You'll also have opportunities to visit local clients to capture original photo and video content.
What You'll Own
Social Media Strategy & Planning
- Develop monthly social media strategies based on each client's larger marketing goals.
- Create monthly content calendars that balance education, promotion, storytelling, engagement, authority, community, and other relevant content.
- Understand each client's audience, brand personality, services, priorities, and goals.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, promotions, Reels, storytelling, seasonal content, events, and timely posts.
- Review social performance and use what we learn to improve future content.
- Recognize larger marketing opportunities and bring them to the CEO/Marketing Strategist when appropriate.
You won't be expected to develop an entire client's marketing strategy alone. You'll be responsible for translating the larger strategy into a strong social media plan.
Copywriting & Brand Voice
Strong writing is an important part of this position.
You'll:
- Write social media captions, calls-to-action, promotional copy, and short-form marketing content.
- Learn how to write in multiple client voices rather than making every account sound the same.
- Use AI tools such as ChatGPT to brainstorm, research, draft, and improve content.
- Edit AI-generated content heavily enough that the final copy sounds natural, specific, and human.
- Proofread content for grammar, accuracy, tone, and brand consistency.
We actively use AI in our workflow, but we're not looking for someone who simply generates a caption and copies and pastes it.
AI should make you better and faster. It shouldn't replace your creativity or judgment.
Content Creation
You'll be comfortable jumping into content creation when needed.
Depending on the account and project, this may include:
- Creating social graphics in Canva.
- Editing existing graphics.
- Creating simple promotional graphics.
- Designing carousels and educational posts.
- Creating Reel concepts and storyboards.
- Editing short-form vertical video.
- Adding text, captions, music, transitions, or other basic Reel elements.
- Repurposing existing client content into new formats.
- Selecting and organizing client photos and videos.
- Making adjustments to creative work before publication.
You do not need to be an advanced graphic designer, professional photographer, or professional videographer.
For more specialized creative projects, you'll help provide direction and coordinate with additional creative support.
What we do need is someone with a strong creative eye who is comfortable opening Canva or a video editor and making something good.
Local Photo & Video Content
One of the things we'd like to offer more consistently is original content from inside our clients' businesses.
Because of this, we're looking for someone who lives in or near the Janesville/Rock County area and is comfortable occasionally traveling to local clients.
During content visits, you may:
- Capture quality smartphone photos.
- Shoot vertical video and B-roll.
- Capture employees, products, services, events, behind-the-scenes moments, and client stories.
- Help clients brainstorm what to talk about on camera.
- Direct simple Reel or video concepts.
- Identify opportunities the client may not realize could become great content.
- Organize captured content for future use.
We're looking for someone who can walk into a business, look around, and start thinking:
"There's a month of content here."
Client Communication
You'll communicate directly with assigned clients as part of managing their social presence.
This includes:
- Asking what's coming up in their business.
- Requesting promotions, events, announcements, photos, and other information.
- Proactively gathering what you need for upcoming content calendars.
- Following up when assets or approvals are missing.
- Helping clients brainstorm content ideas.
- Communicating professionally and confidently.
- Developing an understanding of each client's personality and communication preferences.
Our clients shouldn't have to remember to tell us everything.
Part of your role is learning to ask the right questions.
Account & Workflow Management
You'll work closely with our Operations Director to ensure content is completed accurately and on time.
You'll be expected to:
- Manage deadlines for assigned social accounts.
- Keep content calendars moving.
- Communicate when information or assets are missing.
- Coordinate creative needs with other team members or contractors.
- Review content before it reaches the client.
- Make revisions when appropriate.
- Ensure approved content is scheduled and published.
- Keep client content and assets organized.
- Flag delays, concerns, or scope issues before they become problems.
Our Operations Director helps manage the system.
You own the content inside that system.
What We're Looking For
You may be a great fit if you:
- Understand that social media is marketing, not simply posting.
- Are naturally creative and full of ideas.
- Are a strong writer.
- Have a good visual eye.
- Can look at a business and identify interesting content opportunities.
- Are comfortable using Canva.
- Have experience creating or editing Reels/short-form video.
- Understand Facebook and Instagram and are willing to continue learning as platforms evolve.
- Are comfortable using AI tools as part of your workflow.
- Can learn multiple brand voices.
- Are comfortable communicating directly with business owners and clients.
- Take initiative rather than waiting for someone to assign every task.
- Can manage multiple client accounts without losing track of details.
- Are comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions.
- Can balance creativity with deadlines.
- Are willing to occasionally travel to local clients for content collection.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Enjoy working collaboratively but don't need constant supervision.
Experience
We're more interested in what you can actually do than the exact title of your previous position.
Experience in social media management, marketing, communications, content creation, graphic design, photography, videography, or agency work is helpful.
A degree is not required.
We are open to someone who has built their experience through freelance work, managing business accounts, running their own brand, working with nonprofits, creating content professionally, or other hands-on experience.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong creative instincts, writing ability, strategic thinking, and follow-through.
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time position beginning at approximately 5–10 hours per week, with the opportunity for hours to increase as additional client accounts are assigned.
Starting compensation: $16–$20/hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill level. Review after 90 days with opportunity for compensation increase.
Most work can be completed remotely with flexible scheduling.
However, this is not a fully remote-from-anywhere position because local content collection is an important part of the role. You must be located within reasonable driving distance of Janesville/Rock County and available for occasional client visits, meetings, and events.
