Social Media Content Creator — Tip Top Shoes & Tip Top Kids
Pay: $30/hour Type: Part-time, 3–4 days/week (approximately 24–32 hours/week) Location: In-store / Hybrid (depending on experience and scheduling)
About the Role
Love creating content that people actually stop scrolling to watch?
We're looking for a creative, hands-on Content Creator to bring Tip Top Shoes and Tip Top Kids to life across Instagram and TikTok. This is a content production role first—you'll be the photographer, videographer, editor, and creative storyteller behind our social channels.
You'll have the opportunity to help shape our social media presence by creating engaging content, contributing ideas, and working from a content calendar that you help develop and we approve.
Much of the content will be photographed and filmed in-store, capturing products, customers (with permission), and the personality that has made Tip Top a trusted New York City retailer for generations.
What You'll Do
Content Production
- Shoot and edit a minimum of three short-form videos each week (Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Stories).
- Create and schedule content during your assigned workdays so posts continue publishing throughout the week—even when you're not physically in the store.
- Capture high-quality product and lifestyle photography for Instagram that can also be used for email campaigns and Shopify product pages.
- Edit all video and photo content yourself—no outsourcing or freelance editors.
- Develop a balanced content calendar featuring entertaining content, educational posts, new product launches, promotions, community events, and behind-the-scenes moments.
Strategy & Analytics
- Monitor monthly performance, including engagement, follower growth, reach, and traffic to Shopify.
- Recommend new content ideas based on what is performing well.
- Identify emerging trends, audio, and opportunities on Instagram and TikTok to help keep our content fresh and competitive.
- Share creative ideas that strengthen the voice and personality of both brands.
What You'll Need
- A portfolio showcasing original short-form video that you personally filmed and edited from start to finish.
- A strong understanding of what performs on Instagram and TikTok for retail, fashion, or lifestyle brands.
- Experience using video editing software such as CapCut, Premiere Rush, Premiere Pro, InShot, or similar.
- Working knowledge of Canva or similar design software for simple promotional graphics and social assets.
- Confidence photographing customers, staff, and products in a retail environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Excellent organization and time management—you can consistently meet deadlines without constant supervision.
Nice to Have
- Experience photographing products for Shopify or other e-commerce platforms.
- Experience creating content for retail, footwear, fashion, or lifestyle brands.
- Basic knowledge of social media analytics and reporting.
What Success Looks Like
- Consistently publishing a minimum of three videos and two photo posts each week (clarify whether this is across both brands or per brand).
- Helping increase engagement, reach, and follower growth over time.
- Driving measurable traffic from social media to Shopify through engaging content.
- Bringing fresh creative ideas that strengthen the Tip Top brand and build an engaged community.
