Who We Are
Our story began in 2011 when a group of office workers at a major logistics company in Chicago had a lunch problem. Nearby options were limited and the team was spending too much time and money traveling to their favorite restaurants. They had an idea: bring Chicago’s local restaurant culture inside the office to sell food. It was an immediate hit. When they discovered people from other companies sneaking into their office, they knew they were on to something.
Fooda pioneered the concept of rotating popup restaurants inside offices. Today, we operate in 60 cities with over 100 million meals served and continue to grow rapidly.
Powered by technology and a network of 1500+ restaurants, we feed hungry people at work through a platform of unique food programs located within companies, office buildings, hospitals, schools, distribution centers, and more. At Fooda, we believe a workplace food program should be something employees love and look forward to every day.
Position Overview
Fooda is hiring a Content Marketing Manager to lead our content program and, over time, the team that produces it.
Fooda runs workplace food programs for employers and buildings, from rotating restaurant popups and delivery to catering and fully managed dining. Our buyers include HR and people leaders, workplace experience and facilities teams, corporate real estate, office managers, procurement, and building owners.
You’ll report directly to the VP of Marketing and work closely together on content strategy. Your first few months are about building a deep understanding of Fooda: our products, customers, and market, and the people across Sales and the business who know them best. During this time you’ll write, shape strategy, and work alongside our internal writers and freelance contributors.
At around 30-60 days, you’ll take on direct management of the content team: three internal writers and a group of freelance writers. From there, you’ll own the editorial calendar and lead the team in producing content that generates demand, equips Sales, and builds Fooda’s authority in the market.
What You’ll Be Doing
Learn the business:
-
Build a working knowledge of Fooda’s products, customers, prospects, and competitors.
-
Spend regular time with Sales, account management, operations, and leadership to understand what our buyers care about and why they choose us.
-
Learn what each of our audiences is trying to solve, from HR leaders to building owners, and what information helps them make a decision.
-
Follow trends in the workplace, employee experience, and corporate food, and identify where Fooda has something worth saying.
-
Find strong content ideas in sales calls, customer conversations, and internal discussions rather than waiting for them to be handed to you.
Shape and lead the content program:
-
Work directly with the VP of Marketing on content strategy, and turn that strategy into a clear plan.
-
Own Fooda’s editorial calendar.
-
Lead demand generation and sales enablement content first: guides, research, webinars, customer stories, product content, and the materials Sales uses with prospects and customers.
-
Develop thought leadership that builds Fooda’s authority with our buyers.
-
Guide SEO and blog content as a focused part of the program, grounded in search intent and how buyers find answers, including AI search.
-
Write important pieces yourself, especially in your first six months.
-
Partner with our art director and design team to bring content to life.
-
Turn ideas into clear concepts, briefs, and assignments.
-
Hold a high standard for everything we publish, from the strength of the idea to the final edit.
Develop the team:
-
Coach writers on writing, research, product knowledge, and editorial judgment.
-
Give clear feedback that helps writers improve rather than rewriting their work.
-
Manage freelance writers, including briefs, quality, and deadlines.
-
Help the team become more independent and better able to turn direction into strong work.
-
Take on direct management of the internal writers and freelance contributors at around six months.
Turn direction into work:
-
Take broad or incomplete direction and turn it into a concrete plan.
-
Find the people and information you need to get it done.
-
Bring recommendations, not just questions.
-
Own work from the first idea through publication.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
-
7+ years in B2B content marketing, including ownership of a content or editorial program.
-
At least 2 years managing writers, including coaching and developing them.
-
Experience managing freelancers and other external contributors.
-
A track record of creating demand generation and sales enablement content that Sales actually uses.
-
Excellent editorial judgment and a high standard for written work.
-
Strong interviewing, research, and storytelling skills.
-
The ability to learn a new business quickly and understand what a B2B audience will find useful.
-
A working knowledge of SEO and AEO.
-
Comfort working with executives, Sales, customers, and subject-matter experts.
-
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Experience in food, hospitality, or workplace services is welcome but not required. Strong B2B content leadership matters most.
What Will Make You Successful:
-
Curiosity. You want to understand our products, customers, and market, and you keep asking until you know why something matters.
-
Judgment. You know the difference between a strong idea and an ordinary one, and between great content and content that’s simply well written.
-
Ownership. You find opportunities and move them forward without waiting to be told.
-
Leadership. You make the people around you better and help them become more independent.
What Success Looks Like:
In your first six months, you’ll know Fooda’s business well enough to bring your own content ideas to the table, and you’ll have written pieces that set the bar for the team.
Over your first year, you’ll lead a content program built on a real understanding of our products, customers, and market. Sales will have content they value and use with prospects and customers. Our writers will be stronger and more independent. And our content will help generate demand and strengthen Fooda’s authority with the people who buy from us.
