Role Description This contract role focuses on custom closet, Murphy bed, and home office sales and design for customers in the Washington DC–Baltimore area. The professional in this position will consult with clients, assess their space and storage needs, and create customized design solutions using company tools and product lines. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing design layouts, presenting proposals, guiding customers through material and finish selections, and managing projects from initial consultation through order placement. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating with installation teams, and supporting store sales goals. This is a hybrid position, requiring regular in-person client meetings and showroom visits in the Washington DC–Baltimore area, with some work-from-home flexibility for design work, follow-up, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience with interior design, space planning, or custom cabinetry, with the ability to translate client needs into functional, aesthetic solutions.
- Strong sales and customer service skills, including consultative selling, relationship building, and follow-up to ensure client satisfaction.
- Comfort using design software or CAD tools, and proficiency with standard office and communication tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, presentation software).
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening, clear presentation of designs and pricing, and professional written correspondence.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects, appointments, and deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with designers, installers, and store leadership, with attention to detail in measurements and specifications.
- Previous experience in home organization, furniture design, remodeling, or related fields is highly beneficial.
- Availability to meet clients in person within the Washington DC–Baltimore area and reliably travel to customer sites and the showroom as needed.
- High school diploma required; additional education or training in design, architecture, or a related discipline is a plus.
