Full-time Contract leading to Staff Role
About the Role
Video is at the heart of this role — someone who can film and edit food and lifestyle content that's built for social from the first frame, with the pacing, hooks, and visual instincts that make people stop scrolling. This person stays sharp on what's trending on Instagram and brings that instinct into how they shoot and edit. Alongside that, they bring a strong eye for food and lifestyle photography, food/prop styling, and directing a person naturally on camera. This is a creative partnership: working closely with a food creator and social media manager to bring their vision to life — the steam rising off a dish, the pour, the crack, the bite, the candid laugh — and turning it all into scroll-stopping video first, and beautiful photography alongside it.
This role calls for someone highly creative but also deeply collaborative — able to take direction, run with feedback, and show up with a willing, can-do spirit every time. This is a pure asset-creation role — no posting or account management required.
A strong portfolio is required to be considered for this role. Please include examples of food/lifestyle video, editing specifically for social platforms, photography, and (if available) portrait or styling work.
Responsibilities
Video & Content Creation (Primary Focus)
- Film cooking and creation process on-site, directing angles, movement, and pacing in the moment
- Capture the small sensory details that make food content irresistible — the steam rising off a dish, the pour, the crack, the bite, the drip — and know instinctively which angle and moment will land
- Edit video specifically for social — Reels, TikTok-style vertical, Pinterest video pins — with platform-native pacing, hooks, and formatting
- Optimize every video individually for the platform it's built for, not just a single cut reused everywhere
Photography & Styling
- Assist in styling food and props for shoots — plating, backgrounds, surfaces, tablescapes
- Shoot food, lifestyle, and portrait photography across in-person and remote/static shoot days
- Photograph and film the creator directly — portraits, candid moments, talking-to-camera content — directing posing and expression naturally
- Set up and work with provided lighting equipment — natural light and studio lighting
Social Media Asset Production
- Create carousels and other assets as requested
- Deliver a full range of platform-ready assets — video, carousels, single images, pins — sized and formatted correctly per channel
- Work from direction given by the creator
Ideation & Storytelling
- Stay closely tuned to what's trending on Instagram and social media — formats, editing styles, storytelling techniques — and bring fresh ideas to the table
- Help shape the narrative arc of videos — hook, build, payoff — not just capture footage
- Collaborate with the creator on concepts before and during shoots
Requirements
- Skilled shooting on both phone and DSLR/mirrorless — most shoots will be phone-first, so strong mobile shooting technique is essential
- Strong video editing skills specifically for social platforms — this is one of the most important skills for this role
- A strong, relevant portfolio — required, not optional
- An instinct for capturing food in its most captivating moments — the right angle, the right beat, the small sensory details that make a shot irresistible
- A genuine pulse on Instagram and social media trends, with the creativity to bring new ideas and formats, not just replicate what's already been done
- A storytelling instinct — able to think in narrative, not just shot lists
- Comfortable directing and photographing a person — posing, lighting for skin tones, natural candid moments
- Food and prop styling sensibility — composition, color, texture, light
- Comfortable working with provided studio lighting as well as natural light
- Skilled in Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut (or similar) and Lightroom/Photoshop
- Highly visual thinker with strong collaboration skills — takes direction well, communicates easily, brings a positive attitude
Nice to Have
- Experience filming/producing alongside a talent or creator (not just solo content)
- Experience working within a small creative team (creator + producer)
- Own props and surfaces (boards, linens, ceramics, backdrops)
