We're looking for a US-based freelance Social Media Manager to lead social delivery on a key West Coast client account.
The RoleThis is a freelance, remote engagement for an experienced social specialist who can own day-to-day social delivery for a US client. You'll work closely with our Account Directors, strategists and creative teams in London, and act as a trusted point of contact for the client.
The role sits at the center of delivery: part social specialist, part account lead, and part organizer of many moving parts. You'll plan and deliver social content, manage calendars and campaigns, and make sure work runs smoothly from concept through to reporting.

- Location: Remote, US-based. Central or Mountain time zones preferred.
- Availability: Available during the client's Pacific Time business hours.
- Travel: Occasional trips to the West Coast for client meetings, planning sessions or shoots, and potential travel to our London HQ. Pre-approved travel expenses are reimbursed.
Scope of WorkClient and account management
- Act as a key day-to-day contact for the client, managing communications and updates
- Lead client calls, presentations and project discussions
- Build strong client relationships and maintain a high standard of service
- Manage feedback and approval processes between the client and DN teams
Content planning and delivery
- Plan and manage social media calendars across multiple platforms
- Oversee content from planning and briefing through to publishing
- Make sure content is delivered on time, on brief and in line with platform best practice
- Work with strategy and creative teams to deliver strong social-first execution
Campaign management
- Manage the delivery of social campaigns for the client
- Coordinate with strategy, creative and production teams for a smooth rollout
- Integrate campaigns into ongoing social calendars, including key US cultural and retail moments
- Monitor live activity and make sure campaigns deliver against objectives
Community and channel management
- Oversee day-to-day management of the client's social channels
- Keep platforms up to date, on brand and in line with best practice
- Guide community management, including comments and messages
- Maintain channel hygiene, including bios, links and pinned content
Performance and optimization
- Lead the creation of performance reports and insights
- Analyze results to find opportunities for optimization and growth
- Work with strategy and creative teams to evolve content based on performance
- Turn insights into actionable recommendations for the client
Trends and social expertise
- Stay close to platform developments, US trends, creators and cultural moments
- Bring proactive ideas into planning and creative discussions
- Share insights and platform updates with the client and DN teams
Organization and collaboration
- Manage timelines, calendars and workflows across multiple projects
- Keep assets, folders and tools organized and accessible
- Follow DN's delivery processes to keep quality consistent
- Collaborate with the wider DN team across the US and UK
What We're Looking ForWe don't expect you to know everything. Curiosity and attitude matter as much as experience, but you should bring:
- 3–4+ years of experience in an agency or social media role, including work for US brands
- Proven experience managing social for FMCG brands in personal care and beauty
- Experience working independently as a freelancer or consultant
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Clear, confident and professional communication with clients
- Excellent attention to detail
- A proactive mindset and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Comfort working remotely with a team across time zones
- A real interest in social media and internet culture
Social knowledge
- Strong understanding of major platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and Reddit (Pinterest, Snapchat and Threads a plus)
- Experience managing social content calendars and campaigns
- Understanding of formats, platform behaviors and best practices
- Deep familiarity with US audiences, creators and the US cultural calendar
- Working knowledge of FTC endorsement and disclosure guidelines for branded and creator content.
