Role Description The Social Media Manager will oversee day-to-day social media activity across key platforms to raise awareness of Special Rescue’s programs and impact. This part-time hybrid role is based in New York, NY, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Responsibilities include planning and executing social media campaigns, drafting posts and captions, optimizing content for engagement, and maintaining a consistent brand voice. The role involves monitoring channels, responding to comments and messages, tracking performance metrics, and adjusting strategies based on analytics. The Social Media Manager will collaborate with training, marketing, and leadership teams to highlight stories from clients, instructors, and field operations, and to support event promotion, partnerships, and community outreach.
Qualifications
- Strong social media marketing skills, including campaign planning and platform management.
- Experience with social media optimization (SMO) and content strategy to grow audiences and engagement.
- Excellent writing and communication skills for clear, compelling, and accurate messaging.
- Ability to interpret social media analytics and use data to refine content and posting strategies.
- Familiarity with emergency services, public safety, or nonprofit work is beneficial.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, managing priorities independently, and collaborating with community leaders.
- Proficiency with social media management tools and basic graphic or video editing is a plus.
- Deep sense of empathy, advocacy, and passion for the special needs community.
- Strong understanding of public policy and the American Disability Act.
- Up-to-date knowledge of global natural disasters and regional first responder communities.
