Compensation: $2,500 per month
Company: MADE HMBL Gym (a MADE Hoops facility)
Location: On-Site (Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY)
Reports To: Assistant GM & Senior Director of Content
Company Description
MADE HMBL Gym is a premier basketball player development facility in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, built in partnership between MADE Hoops and HMBL. We offer private, semi-private, and group training alongside strength and plyometrics programming for athletes of all ages and levels.
MADE Hoops is the premier grassroots basketball events organization in North America. Founded in 2014, our mission has always been Maximizing Athletes' Development and Exposure (MADE). We host 100+ boys and girls basketball events annually, including competitive camps for all ages, middle school and high school tournaments, and the top independent high school circuit in the country. We're proud to have countless McDonald's All-Americans, NCAA athletes, and NBA stars among our alumni.
The gym extends that mission into a year-round home for Brooklyn's next generation of hoopers.
About The Role
We're looking for a resourceful, community-minded Marketing/Content Lead to help grow MADE HMBL Gym's social channels and attract more athletes and clients.
This is a hands-on, on-site role at our Fort Greene facility where you'll do a little bit of everything: capture content during live training sessions, mic up trainers, conduct interviews, edit and post videos, and help manage our social media presence.
If you want to learn what it actually takes to grow a newer account in the sports space from the ground up, this is that opportunity.
Your Job
Build an engaging digital presence that makes more athletes and families aware of MADE HMBL, gives them a feel for what happens inside the gym, and ultimately helps drive people through the doors.
You'll work closely with gym leadership, trainers, and the broader MADE Hoops content team to find the people, stories, personalities, and moments that make the facility unique and turn them into content people actually want to watch.
What You'll Do
- Capture photo and video content across training sessions, camps, clinics, events, and everyday activity inside the gym.
- Edit and publish short-form content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant platforms.
- Help manage the gym's day-to-day social presence, including posting, captions, community engagement, and content scheduling.
- Develop repeatable content series featuring our trainers, athletes, and the personalities inside the gym.
- Capture mic'd-up sessions, teaching moments, interviews, challenges, testimonials, behind-the-scenes moments, and other social-first content.
- Create promotional content supporting training sessions, camps, clinics, memberships, events, and new programs.
- Identify compelling moments as they happen and proactively turn them into content without waiting for direction.
- Maintain a consistent content calendar while staying flexible enough to capitalize on trends and spontaneous opportunities.
- Monitor content performance and use results to inform which formats, personalities, and concepts we should create more of.
- Keep captured photo and video assets organized and easily accessible for future use.
- Collaborate with the MADE Hoops content team on opportunities to amplify gym content across larger MADE channels.
What Success Looks Like
- MADE HMBL's social channels become more consistent, engaging, and recognizable.
- The gym develops recurring content series and personalities that audiences associate with the MADE HMBL brand.
- Social media drives increased awareness, inquiries, registrations, and training bookings.
- Trainers and athletes become active and comfortable participants in the gym's content.
- The gym consistently has a strong pipeline of usable content rather than needing to scramble for assets.
- We gain a clear understanding of which content and marketing efforts are actually helping grow the gym.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and short-form social media.
- Comfortable capturing high-quality photo and video using a camera and/or smartphone.
- Ability to efficiently edit short-form video using Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or a similar platform.
- Strong instincts for identifying entertaining, educational, emotional, or shareable moments.
- Comfortable interacting with athletes, parents, trainers, and guests.
- Self-starter who can take ownership of projects and operate without constant direction.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on training activity, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Ability to work regularly on-site at MADE HMBL Gym in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
- Genuine interest in basketball, sports culture, and social media.
Preferred Experience
- Previous content or social media experience within sports, fitness, training, media, or a similar environment.
- Experience managing or growing an Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube account.
- Experience filming basketball or other live-action sports.
- Familiarity with photography, wireless microphones, and basic photo editing.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and using performance data to inform content decisions.
- Experience with graphic design tools such as Photoshop or Canva.
- Knowledge of New York City basketball culture, particularly the Brooklyn basketball community.
- Familiarity with MADE Hoops, grassroots basketball, high school basketball, or youth sports.
- A portfolio or social account demonstrating strong short-form storytelling, editing, or sports content is a major plus.
