Job Summary
Bechtel is searching for a motivated individual to develop and execute communications products and programs for its Energy global business unit. In this role, you will research, design, write, edit, and maintain content for internal and external communications on Bechtel projects, personnel, technical innovations, new job awards, and other activities. Your coordination of program elements will help drive impactful and strategic communications with Bechtel colleagues, external stakeholders, and customers.
This position requires strong skills in writing, original graphic illustrations, presentation development, and digital formats (photo, video, and online). Candidates may be requested to provide a sample portfolio of previous products and demonstration of skill.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”
Major Responsibilities
- Researches, conducts interviews, writes, designs, edits, and maintains content for Bechtel publications, presentations, and websites
- Collaborates with colleagues, leadership, and customers to develop and implement communications strategies and associated communications plans
- Acts as a strategic partner in developing messaging, content, and creative solutions that best position Bechtel with its internal and external audiences
- Develops graphics, photography, and videos to support various forms of content, including executive presentations, briefing packages, marketing toolkits, proposals, intranet sites, social media, and other internal and external products
- Informs and maintains policies, procedures, and processes that ensure the business unit, project, and program communication needs are met in a consistent, efficient, and flexible manner
- Supports the Bechtel Visual Identity, content approval and archiving processes, and applicable Bechtel personnel policies, management instructions, and other relevant company policies and procedures
- Performs special assignments as assigned, including but not limited to all-hands meetings, workforce recognition events, and community relations events
Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
- Must have the right to work in the U.S.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Experience in coordinating content development with executive leadership, professional staff, and craft professionals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with capacity to craft compelling messages to diverse audiences.
- Experience in external communications, including social media, news releases, stakeholder relationships, and/or event planning and execution.
- Ability to take direction from multiple sources and prioritize effectively; must be able to engage in multiple communications campaigns simultaneously from start to finish and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint and Teams, Adobe Creative Suite, and email content management systems.
- Knowledge and practical ability for creating written and visual content (video, photography, and/or graphics).
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to walk on construction and/or industrial sites (including some areas of uneven terrain) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment in construction and/or industrial zone, to include but not limited to, hardhat, safety glasses, reflective vest, and steel-toed shoes.
- Available during non-work hours for infrequent on-call situations and occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of principles of design, photography, and video.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe platforms.
- Strong knowledge of digital SLR cameras and video HD cameras, lighting equipment, audio/visual presentation equipment.
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
