This is a short-term freelance opportunity covering a leave of absence (through 8/21), with an
ASAP start—ideal for a designer looking to gain experience with a major entertainment brand.
Role Overview
The Designer, Special Projects will create and deliver book covers, logos, and interior components for publications—both from scratch and using established templates. You’ll collaborate across Editorial, Marketing, and other internal teams, contributing to a range of high-visibility projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design covers, title pages, and interior layouts for hardcover and softcover graphic novels
- Create complex page layouts and assets for special publishing projects
- Develop logos for storylines, marketing campaigns, and comic titles
- Produce mockups for catalog and third-party approvals
- Design editorial pages and adapt Photoshop files to comic specifications
- Support overflow projects across teams as needed
What We’re Looking For
- ~3 years of print design experience (not digital-focused)
- Strong portfolio showcasing print/layout work
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Ability to multitask and manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Interest in or familiarity with the comic-book industry is a plus

- Candidates must be open to completing an Adobe design test
