Freelance Technical Designer, Jewelry & Jewelry Trims
Duration: Month-to-Month Seasonal Support
Alexander Wang is seeking an experienced Freelance Technical Designer specializing in Jewelry to provide ongoing seasonal technical design support across jewelry product and jewelry-specific trims. This role will partner closely with the VP, Head of Design and Product Development to translate creative concepts into highly detailed, production-ready technical documentation that supports accurate sampling, costing, and vendor execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop highly detailed technical drawings and specification sheets for jewelry and jewelry-related trims.
- Create complete measurement callouts, construction notes, and precise build instructions.
Produce multiple technical views as needed, including:
- Front / Back / Side views
- Section cuts
- Exploded construction details for complex components
- Ensure all documentation aligns with seasonal timelines, vendor requirements, and production standards.
- Collaborate with Design and Product Development to refine construction feasibility, detailing, and execution.
- Produce jewelry-specific trim CADs and technical packages throughout the development process.
Deliverables
Production-ready technical packages including:
- Full measurements and proportional callouts
- Materials, components, and assembly notes
- Hardware, finishing, and execution guidance
- Clear construction/build instructions suitable for vendor production
Drawing packages to be delivered as:
- Shareable AI files and PDF specification sheets
- Editable working files as needed on a seasonal/project basis
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer specializing in jewelry and/or accessories.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and technical CAD drawing.
- Ability to create highly detailed, production-ready technical packages.
- Strong understanding of jewelry construction, materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience partnering with design, product development, and external vendors.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage ongoing seasonal support and shifting priorities.

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential hourly salary for this position is $75 per hour, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
