Building on software and sensor technology this company is now launching the world’s first fully self-driving transportation service that will take members of the public from A to B at the touch of a button.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Designer for a high-impact, 3-month project-based freelance engagement. You will define how the brand lives in 3D, from the foundational design language of global offices to the creative oversight of high-visibility experiential activations. You will ensure every environmental touchpoint feels cohesive and on-brand.
Core Responsibilities
- Environmental Brand Standardization: Develop and maintain a scalable Environmental Brand Book to standardize design language across global offices and temporary brand activations.
- Experiential Creative Oversight: Act as the primary creative lead and brand ambassador for external experiential vendors. Review concepts, provide art direction, and ensure event-based builds align with brand aesthetic and quality standards.
- Multi-Dimensional Design: Produce high-fidelity 2D layouts and 3D visualizations/renderings to communicate design intent to stakeholders.
- CMF Excellence: Define Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) palettes that align with brand identity.
- Artist & Vendor Relations: Source and manage relationships with external artists and fabricators to commission site-specific installations.
- Site Management: Conduct site visits and tours across Bay Area locations to oversee implementation and audit existing spaces.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in environmental, experiential, or interior design, with a proven track record of managing brand standards at scale, preferably within a tech-forward or automotive environment.
- Hybrid Portfolio: Demonstrates a mix of sophisticated office interior design and large-scale experiential/activation work.
- Art Direction Acumen: Able to provide clear, actionable creative feedback to third-party vendors and agencies.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Rhino, SketchUp, Revit, or Cinema 4D) and Adobe Creative Suite.
Independent: Ability to work autonomously, manage complex project timelines, and hold external partners accountable to a high creative standard.
