Walmart Marketing is a dynamic, multidimensional organization dedicated to redefining how the world shops through impactful creative and fast-paced innovation – all grounded in customer insights and brand strategy. We live out our company values each day while striving to exceed customer expectations and drive growth for the company.
Our work spans the digital and physical spaces and combines the work of numerous internal teams and external advertising and media agencies. What you'll do...As the Manager of Social Community & Cultural Intelligence at Walmart, you will serve as a vital connector between the brand and its diverse social community. Your role is pivotal in providing cultural context and elevating our strategic approach across all marketing channels. By assisting in operationalizing our trend synthesizing capabilities, you will translate real-time cultural and community signals into actionable insights that inform business decisions and drive brand relevance. You will be responsible for helping to manage daily community engagement across all social channels, building and nurturing relationships with brand advocates, and strategically engaging new customers to expand our reach. Leveraging advanced social listening tools, you will surface and analyze online conversations and monitor trends. Your insights will help guide cross-functional teams while you champion the voice of the customer and humanize the brand. Success in this role requires strong written communication skills (you’re an engager, not a creator), a hands-on operational mindset, and a passion for cultural intelligence. You will build custom dashboards and reports to share real-time insights, work with multiple data sources, and stay attuned to platform trends, viral formats, and cultural moments. Your creative problem-solving abilities and data-driven approach will enable you to turn online conversations into meaningful brand moments, deepen community participation, and rapidly adapt messaging in response to real-time events, ensuring Walmart remains at the forefront of cultural relevance. You will be responsible for:
- Managing daily community engagement across all channels, including comments, tags, and hashtags
- Build and nurture relationships with long-time brand advocates while strategically engaging new customers to expand community reach
- Contribute to our overarching social listening strategy to surface and analyze online conversations and contextualize trends related to our brand, products, and industry
- Leverage social listening tools to find opportunities for engagement, monitor/flag issues, and inform cross-functional teams including Product, Comms, and Customer Care
- Trusted advocate and champion for our customers and for what our community is thinking, feeling, and doing
- Humanize the brand by fostering thoughtful, brand-aligned conversations with our audience
- Develop creative ways to deepen community participation and strengthen brand affinity
- Brand Fan Engagement: Help design, build, and scale a community of brand fanatics to serve as an ongoing source of early-stage consumer insights
- Utilizing social tools and AI to sift through millions of data points to surface actionable insights related to customer behavior and social media trends to identify target audience segments and support the development of strategies to engage and attract them
- Stay dialed into platform trends, viral formats, and cultural moments to inject relevance and speed into everything we make
You’ll sweep us off our feet if you have:
- Strong written communication skills and a natural ability to engage people online.
- Comfort being highly hands-on and operational — this role is about execution.
- Build custom social intelligence dashboards and reports to surface and share real-time insights on brand health and affinity, brand-relevant conversations, cultural moments/trends, and industry landscape
- Work with multiple API’s and disparate data sets
- Championing the Walmart customer in everything you do
- A knack for turning online conversations into meaningful brand moments that inspire advocacy and loyalty
- A pulse on emerging digital subcultures, social movements, and the latest memes, with the ability to translate them into brand-relevant engagement
- A data-driven mindset for testing new engagement tactics and optimizing based on what resonates with our communities
- The ability to identify and nurture micro-influencers or niche community leaders who can amplify our message authentically
- A creative approach to problem-solving in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- The ability to rapidly pivot messaging in response to real-time cultural events or brand moments
Minimum qualifications:
