Position Title: Content Coordinator Intern

Role Overview
We’re looking for an organized, editorially sharp, and culturally in-tune Content Coordinator (Intern) to help manage the day-to-day flow of digital content across our platforms. You’ll serve as a key liaison between writers, editors, designers, and the social media team—ensuring content is delivered on schedule, meets editorial standards, and reaches the right audience in the right format.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment, has a deep love for African storytelling, and understands the digital media space.
Key Responsibilities
Content Management & Workflow
- Coordinate editorial calendar in collaboration with editors and content leads
- Track incoming assignments, deadlines, and publishing timelines
- Upload, format, and publish articles using CMS
- Ensure proper tagging, metadata, SEO optimization, and internal linking
Editorial Support
- Assist in copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking for grammar, style, and accuracy
- Ensure all content aligns with Running Africa’s editorial voice and brand guidelines
- Source or assign imagery and verify visual rights for each post
- Familiarity with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express)
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Communicate with freelance writers, contributors, and creative teams to manage content assets
- Work closely with social media, audio, and video teams to support cross-platform storytelling
- Participate in daily or weekly editorial meetings
Performance & Optimization
- Monitor content performance (click-through rates, engagement, traffic) and flag high-performing or underperforming pieces
- Suggest updates or republishing strategies for evergreen content
- Help identify trending topics or cultural moments that align with our editorial direction
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in content coordination, editorial, or digital publishing
- Strong familiarity with content management systems
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Understanding of digital storytelling best practices (SEO, headlines, formatting, mobile-first)
- Passion for African culture, music, politics, entertainment, and diaspora narratives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Experienced with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) is a plus
- Previous experience working with remote teams or global teams is a bonus
