Product Designer, Growth (Contract)
We’re looking for a contract Product Designer to help shape how startups, small businesses, and growing teams discover, adopt, and unlock lasting value from our product. You’ll design growth experiences across defined projects within the customer journey, turning the potential of AI into meaningful, everyday impact for people around the world.
This is a hands-on contract engagement for a designer who pairs exceptional craft with strong product judgment and an experimental mindset. You’ll tackle compelling growth challenges, using creativity, product intuition, and experimentation to discover new opportunities. We’re looking for someone who enjoys treating metrics as puzzles to solve, finding unexpected solutions, and learning quickly through iteration.
Above all, you bring exceptional design craft and believe that driving measurable impact and building beautiful, intuitive experiences should go hand in hand.
This contractor position is based at our San Francisco headquarters. Project scope, deliverables, and engagement duration will be agreed upon as part of the contracting process.
During This Engagement, You Will
- Deliver end-to-end design for defined growth projects.
- Design and improve experiences across user lifecycle stages such as discovery, onboarding, activation, engagement, collaboration, conversion, and retention.
- Turn ambiguous opportunities into clear hypotheses, compelling prototypes, and polished product experiences.
- Bring a high bar for interaction design, visual craft, systems thinking, content, and end-to-end coherence.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, data science, research, and go-to-market partners to inform project direction and execution.
- Use quantitative data, experimentation, research, and qualitative insights to identify opportunities and evaluate outcomes.
- Translate complex and rapidly evolving AI capabilities into approachable experiences for people with a wide range of technical expertise.
- Connect longer-term product direction with focused, iterative design deliverables.
- Document and share reusable patterns, design decisions, and insights to support implementation and handoff.
You might be a strong fit for this engagement if you:
- Have a portfolio demonstrating exceptional product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft across complex, shipped products.
- Have delivered substantial product initiatives from early exploration through launch and iteration.
- Possess strong product judgment and can connect user needs, business goals, technical possibilities, and measurable outcomes.
- Are comfortable working with data and experiments while balancing quantitative signals with research, intuition, and design judgment.
- Can work independently to deliver against an agreed scope, communicate progress, and surface dependencies.
- Can move quickly without compromising clarity, coherence, trust, or craft.
- Are fluent in using AI to explore, prototype, communicate, and extend what you can build.
- Can turn ambiguous, fast-moving problems into a clear point of view and actionable design recommendations.
- Communicate through strong narratives and prototypes that help cross-functional partners make decisions.
- Are excited to rethink established growth patterns and invent interactions that feel native to AI.
- Care deeply about building products that are useful, trustworthy, and worthy of users’ time.
- Direct experience in growth design or developer products is helpful but not required. We’re most interested in designers with strong product judgment, exceptional craft, and evidence that their work meaningfully changed user behavior or business outcomes.
