This Designer II will support the development of aerospace and spaceflight hardware by turning engineering concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs. The role focuses on 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T, technical documentation, and maintaining accurate product data within PLM systems.
You’ll work closely with engineers throughout the design and manufacturing lifecycle, helping identify design issues, improve manufacturability, and ensure drawings and models meet configuration and engineering standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of mechanical design, drafting, or CAD modeling experience.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawing experience.
- Experience with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical design principles and GD&T.
- Understanding of materials, machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working within PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
- Ability to identify design problems and contribute to practical design improvements.
- Strong attention to configuration control and engineering documentation.
- Aerospace, defense, spaceflight, or other highly regulated product-development experience preferred.
- Exposure to CNC machining, additive manufacturing, aerospace structures, mechanisms, or flight hardware is a plus.
Why this Role
- Space and aerospace hardware: Opportunity to directly support the design and development of components intended for aerospace and spaceflight applications.
- Hands-on technical design: Heavy involvement with 3D modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturability, and real hardware.
- Full lifecycle exposure: Support products across design, manufacturing, documentation, release, and configuration control.
- Advanced manufacturing: Potential exposure to CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and complex aerospace fabrication methods.
- Strong engineering collaboration: Work closely with engineers while getting deeper exposure to aerospace design standards and product development.
- Extension/conversion potential: 6-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion.
