The company is seeking a FreelanceWide Format Printer Operator to oversee the production of digital printmaking using large format inkjet printers. Working closely with the company’s Executive Vice President of Product Development, the Product Development Manager, graphic design teammates, and the Production team, the Freelance Wide Format Printer Operator interfaces with employees from all divisions of the company, coordinates with outside vendors as needed.
This freelance position is based in our Skokie headquarters. This role will report to the Product Development Manager and have frequent interaction with the Executive Vice President of Manufacturing and Product Development, Product Development Manager and the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities:
Production Requirements:
- Review job tickets
- Manage workflow
- Prioritize work output based on deadlines
- Meet project deadlines
Tools and Equipment Requirements:
- Use and maintain department tools and equipment (HP Latex 800W, Epson SureColor P8000, Graphtec Plotter FC800-130 60")
- Manage machine logs
- Coordinate maintenance and repair calls
Printing Requirements:
- Load print substrates, inks, and print heads
- Adjust printer settings as needed
Quality control Requirements:
- Monitor printer performance
- Perform quality control checks
- Ensure printed materials meet quality standards
Maintenance Requirements:
- Manage daily maintenance on the printers, including cleaning and upkeep
- Place orders for consumables as needed
Print job Requirements:
- Review graphics to ensure they meet client specifications
- Create proofs for client approval
- Ensure production runs match approved proofs
The Freelance Wide Format Printer Operator should be detail-oriented, organized, and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The operator should be physically able to operate printing machines, bend or kneel frequently, and lift 25-50 pounds at a time.

Requirements:
- BA or a BFA degree in Graphic Design or related field of study
- 3+ years of related work experience operating wide-format printers
- Experience with printing wallcovering a plus
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
and Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing,
in a professional manner
- Proactive, creative, detail-oriented team player
- Capacity to work independently as well as part of a fast-paced team
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
