- Freelance Social Media Strategist, Sports & Gaming
I’m looking for a
Freelance Social Media Strategist with a strong background in
sports media, sports publishing, and social strategy to support an exciting new-business pitch for a leading gaming publisher.
Sports media backgrounds I’m especially interested in include
ESPN, Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, Barstool Sports, league/team social teams, and comparable sports publishers or agencies.
This is a
short-term, remote freelance engagement starting ASAP and running over the next few weeks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop social strategy across audience insights, platform roles, content pillars, and programming
- Translate sports marketing principles, fandom, rivalries, tentpole moments, athletes, and creators into gaming
- Build content opportunities around gaming launches, seasons, updates, esports, and real-time moments
- Develop content concepts and formats for TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Twitch, and emerging platforms
- Recommend creator, streamer, pro player, and talent integrations
- Identify sports + gaming benchmarks and cultural trends
- Help define KPIs and success metrics
- Collaborate with the pitch team on strategy, slides, and presentation materials
Ideal Background
- 4+ years of social media strategy and content development
- Direct experience working with a sports media brand, publisher, league, or team
- Strong understanding of sports fandom, live/reactive content, the sports calendar, and athlete/creator culture
- Understanding of gaming culture and audiences, with the ability to translate sports strategies into gaming
- Experience developing social strategy from insights through execution
- Deep knowledge of current platform trends across TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, and Twitch
- Experience supporting new-business pitches or presenting strategy to clients
- Strong writing skills and ability to work quickly in a deadline-driven environment
Nice To Have
Gaming, esports, game publisher, streamer/creator, league/team, or gaming media experience.
