Role Description The Social Media Lead is a contract role responsible for developing and executing J. Gray’s social media presence across key platforms. This hybrid position is based in San Francisco, CA, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the schedule. Day-to-day, the Social Media Lead will plan and film, edit and publish content, manage the content calendar, engage with the online community, respond to comments and messages, and maintain brand voice and visual consistency. The role includes monitoring performance metrics, optimizing posts and campaigns, collaborating with the founder or creative team to capture product stories and behind-the-scenes content, and coordinating with any external partners or influencers. The Social Media Lead will also stay current on trends in social media and sustainable/lifestyle brands to inform ongoing strategy and experimentation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Optimization (SMO), including managing brand accounts and improving reach and engagement.
- Experience in and aptitude for producing, filming and editing short form video content.
- Strong Communication and Writing abilities, with a clear, consistent, and brand-aligned tone for captions, comments, and direct messages.
- Experience in Content Strategy, including planning content calendars, aligning posts with business goals, and tailoring content to platform audiences.
- Ability to analyze social media performance data, interpret insights, and adjust tactics based on results.
- Familiarity with visual storytelling and collaboration with photographers or designers to create compelling content.
- Comfort working in a small, founder-led brand environment, with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Prior experience with lifestyle, home goods, fashion, or sustainability-focused brands is a plus.
- Proficiency with major social platforms (e.g., Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok) and basic social media management tools.
