Technical Writer Freelance

Location: Remote (Preference for candidates in the Greater Philadelphia area)

Hours: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week. Flexible scheduling (nights and weekends) to accommodate a full-time Monday to Friday job.

Job Overview: We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our Documentation team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in technical writing and a strong understanding of industrial equipment. You will be tasked with creating and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for our clients’ products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Documentation Creation: Develop, write, and edit user manuals, technical guides,
and other documents related to industrial equipment. Ensure that content is accurate, user-friendly, and aligns with company standards.
Technical Expertise: Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and comprehend complex systems and processes.
Content Management: Organize and maintain documentation libraries, ensuring materials are current and easily accessible.
Review and Revision: Regularly update existing documentation to enhance clarity, usability, and accuracy. Incorporate feedback from users and make necessary revisions.
Compliance: Ensure all documentation meets relevant industry standards and regulations.
Training and Support: Assist internal teams with documentation practices and tools. Help create training materials and resources as needed.
Project Management: Handle multiple documentation projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines are met and high quality is maintained.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: At least 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial equipment sector.
Skills:
Strong grasp of industrial equipment and technical concepts.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
Proficiency with documentation tools like Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar software.
Familiarity with content management and version control systems.
Ability to convert complex technical information into clear, concise documentation.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environments
