obé Social Media Coordinator
New York, NY | Junior Level
In Person: 2x per week
Part-Time: 20 hours per week
About the Role
obé is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to help manage our social channels and bring fresh, creative ideas to the brand.
This person should be familiar with social media and have a strong understanding of what is trending across fitness, wellness, and culture. You’ll work closely with the Senior Director to plan content, come up with new ideas, write copy, manage posting, and make sure obé has a consistent voice across platforms.
You’ll also work closely with the Head of Production and Production team, who will handle the majority of filming and editing. While you should be comfortable jumping in to capture a quick social moment or make a simple edit when needed, this is not a full-time video editing or production role.
We’re looking for someone who is creative, collaborative, organized, and able to move quickly. Most importantly, we want someone who understands social media and can bring ideas to the table.
What You’ll Do
- Help manage obé’s social voice across all platforms
- Work with the Senior Director to plan upcoming social content
- Come up with creative content ideas, recurring series, hooks, scripts, and captions
- Manage posting across Instagram, Instagram Stories, Threads, TikTok, and YouTube
- Make sure content is posted consistently and follows best practices for each platform
- Stay up to date on social trends, fitness and wellness content, creators, and what is happening across each platform
- Look at content performance to understand what is working, what we should do more of, and what we should change
- Put together monthly social reports covering key metrics, top-performing content, growth, and recommendations
- Create clear briefs for the Production team so they know what needs to be filmed or created
- Work closely with the Head of Production and Production team on content needs
- Help with basic filming or editing when quick social content is needed
- Be onsite during production days to capture content with obé talent and identify additional social opportunities
- Write social copy and make sure messaging stays consistent with the obé brand
- Find creative ways to highlight our instructors’ personalities, expertise, and stories
- Identify trends and cultural moments that make sense for obé to participate in
- Work with Programming, Production, Marketing, and Talent on larger brand initiatives
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in social media, content creation, content strategy, or a related role
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and short-form video
- Good instincts for what makes people stop, watch, share, and engage with content
- Strong writing skills and an understanding of social copy and brand voice
- Creative and excited to bring new ideas to the table
- Comfortable managing content across multiple platforms
- Able to work quickly and adjust when priorities or trends change
- Comfortable reviewing social analytics and using them to improve future content
- Organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with talent, Production, Marketing, and senior team members
- Comfortable with basic social filming and editing; advanced editing experience is not required
- Interest in fitness, wellness, and culture is strongly preferred
- NYC-based and available to be onsite Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as for occasional shoots, events, and other social moments
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means helping obé build a social presence that feels consistent, creative, current, and true to the brand.
You’ll bring new ideas to the table, keep our channels active and organized, help showcase our talent and their personalities, and pay attention to what is performing well so we can continue improving our content.
