Job Description:
The Communication Designer supports the Visual Design and Creative Experience teams by turning complex ideas into clear, compelling, and visually engaging communications. This role specializes in presentation design and visual storytelling, with expert-level PowerPoint skills and a solid understanding of print and digital production workflows.
They’ll partner with marketing, communications, and creative stakeholders to produce polished materials that align to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s brand standards—spanning internal communications, executive presentations, event collateral, and marketing support assets.
Responsibilities:
• Design and build high-impact presentations in PowerPoint, applying advanced layout, animation, and storytelling techniques.
• Translate strategic and technical information into clear visual narratives through infographics, iconography, and data visualization.
• Maintain brand integrity and visual consistency across all deliverables, adhering to established design systems and templates.
• Develop and refine creative assets for internal and external use, such as presentations, signage, print collateral, and digital marketing materials
• Prepare production-ready files for print and digital outputs, ensuring color accuracy, layout precision, and technical compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (creative, communications, and marketing) to align design direction with strategic objectives
• Manage multiple fast-turn projects while maintaining accuracy, visual quality, and attention to detail
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of design experience in a corporate or agency setting
• Expert-level proficiency in PowerPoint, including slide layout, master template management, animations, and data visualization
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Experience producing assets for both print and digital environments, with an understanding of prepress, file prep, and output optimization
• Excellent sense of typography, hierarchy, color, and composition
• Ability to interpret complex content and translate it into clear, impactful visual communication
• Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and design precision
• Preferred Experience:
• Experience creating communication materials for corporate events, leadership presentations, or large-scale marketing campaigns
• Familiarity with presentation storytelling and visual communication best practices
• Comfortable working within established brand systems and multi-stakeholder review processes
