About AWA
The American Wiffle® Association (AWA) is a professional Wiffle® Ball league based in Edmonds, Washington, featuring eight teams. Since expanding its digital presence in 2020, AWA has built a large online audience through game highlights, player personalities, storylines, and sports entertainment content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
The Role
AWA is seeking a creative Head of Content to lead the league’s short-form and long-form content strategy throughout the season.
This is a hands-on role focused on turning AWA games, players, rivalries, and moments into compelling digital content. The Head of Content will help determine what AWA creates, how stories are told, and how content is packaged for each platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead AWA’s short-form strategy across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels.
- Develop long-form YouTube content, including player features, game recaps, behind-the-scenes videos, documentaries, and recurring series.
- Identify compelling moments, personalities, rivalries, and storylines.
- Develop content calendars and coordinate with editors, players, and league staff.
- Create and refine video concepts, hooks, scripts, titles, captions, and thumbnails.
- Review edits and maintain consistent AWA storytelling and brand standards.
- Track views, retention, engagement, and other metrics to improve content strategy.
- Develop new content concepts capable of reaching audiences beyond existing Wiffle® Ball fans.
Qualifications
- Experience creating or managing short-form and/or long-form digital content.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
- Strong instincts for sports storytelling, social trends, and viral content.
- Understanding of hooks, pacing, retention, titles, and thumbnails.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Sports, entertainment, creator, or digital media experience preferred.
- Video editing experience is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Schedule
This is a part-time, seasonal role from March through September based in Edmonds, Washington. AWA typically plays 2–3 games per week, and candidates should be available around the league’s game schedule.
