About Grand Crew
Grand Crew is an independent creative agency and production company in Brooklyn. We make work across any and all surfaces: commercials, films, and social content for clients like Nike, Meta, Amazon, and Spotify. We make a lot of the work ourselves, in-house, with a small team that moves fast, in addition to tapping into an ever-growing network of creatives and production masterminds near and far. We care about craft, ideas, and enjoying the process, and we believe achieving all three in any project is possible.
About this role
This is a role for someone who makes things from start to finish– competent in both idea creation as well as execution. You enjoy not just coming up with the idea, but also writing, shooting, editing, and pressing “POST”. Social is at the heart of the role, but the craft of filmmaking and content creation is in the soul of everything we make.
You're a copywriter and a filmmaker in one person, and you're not precious about which hat you're wearing. One week you're running a small crew shoot for a social series; the next you're writing the narrative spine of a director's treatment. Both are facets of the job – touching multiple creative surfaces week to week.
You'll often be partnered with a designer/art director we're hiring alongside you. They own the look and the deck build; you own the words and the footage. You’ll often operate as a two-person creative team, concepting together on pitches, campaigns, and projects across the company.
What You'll do
- Concept, shoot, and edit social-first content: end to end, from idea through final cut, mostly small-crew or solo.
- Write across everything: scripts, VO, social copy, captions. Contribute the narrative to treatments and pitch decks.
- Develop creative ideas for campaigns, films, pitches, and things that don't have a name yet.
- Handle scrappy production: finding locations, directing non-actors, getting a great image without a big crew.
- Team up with our designer as a two-person creative unit when a project calls for it.
What makes you right for this
- 2-5 years making content people actually watch, at a brand, agency, publication, or on channels you built yourself.
- A reel of your own work: things you shot and cut yourself, not just things you were near.
- Writing samples with range: funny when it should be, sharp always, human throughout. These can be scripts, posts, short stories, or a gut-punching segment from your Notes app.
- Camera skills: comfortable enough behind one to make something beautiful fast. From phone to smaller camera bodies, knowing your way around a lens and a light kit will be valued here.
- Fluency in the tools: Premiere, Capcut, or weapon of choice LTE. After Effects and DaVinci experience optional but valued. Experience working in organized systems platforms like Google Docs, Airtable, Canva, And the big kicker here...Claude.
- AI @ Grand Crew: We're AI-friendly here at Grand Crew, as a tool to help us move through processes in ways that allow the best parts of our creative and production minds to be successful, not to be creative for us. We use it to make the work more efficient, not to squeeze out the creative juices that make the work worth making. While not required for the role, we view using AI tools as a means of moving faster on the tedious parts without handing over your taste as a benefit to the job.
Grand Crew is currently building its systems using Claude integrated across many surfaces. We’d love someone with POV and understanding across their tools (Claude Code, CoWork, Connectors, and more). If not experience, having at least a curiosity, will be seen as a benefit.
- An organized brain: Our footage, projects, and archives run on a system, and you'd have both access to it and the responsibility to keep it clean. Cards dumped and labeled, projects structured, versions findable. Our ideal hire treats organization as part of the craft, not the chore after it.
- Nice to have: Motion graphics, color grading, sound design,, and light design sensibility to help occasionally in decks.
Send your reel, a write sample or two you’re proud of, and a short note (not a cover letter, just a few honest lines about why this role fits for you) to apply@grandcrew.work. If you make it past being selected for interviews, our final round will include a paid test brief: one social piece and a page of writing, so we can see how you actually work.
