We are seeking a creative, solution-oriented emerging professional to serve as our Content Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be curious about the scholarship surrounding Thoreau and the transcendentalists while also being passionate about making ideas accessible to broader audiences. This is a critical storytelling role for the Alliance, helping translate scholarship, collections, programs, and news into engaging content that inspires participation and broadens public understanding. Success in this role means helping more people discover the organization's work, engage with its programs, and connect with Thoreau's ideas.
As a small nonprofit, we value initiative and flexibility. This position begins with a focused set of priorities designed for an approximately 10-hour average workweek. This is based on a flexible, hybrid schedule with regular on-site presence at Thoreau Farm and occasional evening or weekend commitments for programs and events. This position may expand in hours and responsibility based on organizational priorities and the successful candidate's interests and strengths. This is an especially good opportunity for PhD students or early-career humanities professionals seeking part-time paid experience in nonprofit communications and public engagement.

Potential Expanded Responsibilities (as hours and/or interests expand)
- Refine and implement outreach strategies to expand audiences, especially emerging scholars, community members, publishers, contributors, and volunteers.
- Support communication to/for Fellowship awardees and other researchers.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in content creation, digital media, communications, or social media management.
- Basic photography or graphic design skills, including experience with Canva.
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS.
