About the Job
Digital Workshop Center (DWC) is a school for tech careers on a mission to empower students to gain job skills in high growth, high demand occupations.
Since 2006, our school has been a powerful resource across the US for students looking for bootcamp or non-traditional higher education. DWC enrolls students of all backgrounds and skill levels, including corporate teams and working professionals seeking career development.
We are seeking a freelance Microsoft Power BI Instructor to join our contract instructor team. This is a 1099 independent contractor role, and it is designed to stay that way. It is a great fit for an established consultant, freelancer, or fractional analytics professional who wants flexible, paid teaching engagements without the commitment of a full-time position.
The ideal candidate is a "Swiss army knife" of all things Power BI: using it, implementing it, and customizing it. You bring real-world projects into the virtual classroom, teach with patience, and share our commitment to student outcomes.
What You Will Be Teaching
You will lead live, instructor-led Power BI training via Zoom for corporate clients and professionals building career skills. We have work ready now:
- A private, one-on-one student ready to begin immediately
- A corporate group of 3 students starting in the near future
- Additional corporate and professional development cohorts on an ongoing basis
Each Power BI class is 12 hours of live instruction, divided into 4 sessions of 3 hours each, typically spread over several weeks. You are paid a flat rate per class under a written contract, and you are free to maintain your own consulting practice and other clients throughout.
Pay
- Flat rate of $600 to $660 per class (equivalent to an average of $50 to $55 per hour of instruction)
- Each class is 12 hours total: 4 sessions x 3 hours
- Paid per class via invoice on an agreed billing cycle, under a written independent contractor agreement
Why Freelancers Like Working With Us
- True contract work: project-based engagements with clear scopes, not a disguised full-time job
- Flexible scheduling: session times are coordinated directly with you and the student
- Pre-built curriculum resources and a supportive operations team, so you can focus on teaching
- Repeat opportunities: instructors who are a great fit are first in line for future cohorts
- Fully remote: teach from anywhere via Zoom
About You

- Up-to-date on the modern use of AI within PBI and related platforms
- Excellent portfolio of real-world projects to bring into the classroom as use cases
- Tech savvy and comfortable in a fast-paced, bootcamp-style environment
- Experienced teaching or training online via Zoom
- Comfortable with a flexible, engagement-based schedule
- Takes joy in helping students and professionals advance their careers

Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience using Power BI and developing custom Power BI solutions
- Online teaching or corporate training experience
- Positive attitude and great student support skills

- An active freelance or consulting practice in analytics or business intelligence
- Bachelor's degree or certification in a related field (such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst)
- Experience teaching at a tech bootcamp, higher education program, or adult education school
