About Thesis
Thesis is a premium 1:1 personal training company. Our clients are busy DC professionals — lawyers, executives, founders — who want serious, evidence-based coaching, not fads. We run 1,000+ sessions a week across three locations, and our growth has come almost entirely from results and referrals.
Now we want to publish like we train: consistently, with a point of view, and without gimmicks. That's your job.
The role
You'll be our first in-house content person, and you'll own the entire engine: planning, shooting, editing, publishing, and reporting. The talent is already here — our trainers and their clients' results. You turn what happens on the gym floor into content worth watching.
This is a producer role, not an influencer role. You're behind the camera. You'll succeed by building a repeatable system, not by chasing viral moments.
What you'll do
- Own the content calendar end to end and hit a steady cadence: 5–6 short-form videos a week (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts), one flagship piece a month (long-form video or in-depth article), a weekly Google Business Profile post, and a monthly client email.
- Run two batch shoot days a week on the gym floor (some early mornings — that's when the good stuff happens) and one dedicated edit day
- Shoot and edit yourself: We'll buy the gear; you make it look premium.
- Build our results library: client transformations, case studies, and data-driven proof — including anonymized formats for the majority of clients who won't go on camera
- Manage the consent process (media releases, opt-ins) so we never publish anything a client didn't agree to
- Develop 3–4 trainers into a recurring on-camera cast; coach the naturals, don't force the camera-shy
- Repurpose everything: each flagship piece becomes a week of shorts, an email, and a post
- Manage a small paid budget ($500–1K/month) to boost proven winners locally — nothing runs cold
- Report monthly against a simple scorecard: publishing cadence, engagement, branded search volume, and "how did you hear about us" data from our CRM
What you'll need
- 2–4 years shooting and editing short-form video for a brand, creator, or agency — a reel is required, no exceptions
- Strong editing chops in CapCut, Premiere, or equivalent, and enough photography skill to cover stills
- Self-direction. You'll get a clear brief, a budget, and access — then it's yours. If you need daily approval to publish or direction, this isn't the right fit. We are looking for someone who owns the entire process, and does not need to be micro managed.
- Comfort working around people mid-workout, and the discretion to know when not to film. Our clients are private people in a private setting
- Reliable early-morning availability a couple of days a week
Nice to have
- Long-form YouTube experience
- Fitness, sports, or health content background (bonus if you can tell a squat from a deadlift)
- Email or CRM-based publishing experience (we run on GoHighLevel)
- B2B or LinkedIn content experience
Your first 90 days
- Weeks 1–2: shadow the floor, meet the trainers, learn the brand voice, get the consent machinery live
- Weeks 3–4: first shorts published; shooting rhythm established
- Month 2: full weekly cadence running; first flagship piece shipped; recurring trainer cast identified
- Month 3: scorecard live with baselines; you present what's working and what you'd change
We measure the first 90 days on one thing above all: did we publish on cadence.
The voice
Calm, confident, evidence-based. We explain why we train the way we do. We never post thirst-trap gym content, before/after shaming, or 30-day-transformation hype. If it wouldn't feel right at a $160/session studio, we don't publish it.
Compensation and perks
- $65,000–$85,000 depending on experience, plus benefits
- Free personal training (yes, really — with our trainers, in our studios).
- Gear budget and creative ownership of a channel you build from zero
- A founder who will give you two hours a week, a monthly interview session, and then get out of your way
How to apply
Send your reel, 2–3 pieces you're proudest of, and one sentence answering this: what's the first thing you'd shoot at a gym like ours?
Finalists complete a paid test shoot with one of our trainers.
