About Karpo
Karpo, by MachinePulse, is a proactive AI assistant that lives inside iMessage. We're building the ultimate local exploration expert with impeccable taste — helping users discover hidden gems, book travel, and handle life admin.
Role
Karpo is building a content, social media, events, and community engine around New York. Our website will serve as a long-term home for city content, while Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, newsletters, and offline events help us distribute ideas, engage users, and build relationships.
We are looking for a Social Media & Community Operations owner to run Karpo's website media content and social media channels day to day. This role will be responsible for publishing, engagement, user communication, and content growth across channels, while turning comments, DMs, UGC, and platform signals into content, event, and product insights.
What You'll Do
- Own day-to-day operations for Karpo's social media channels, with an initial focus on Instagram and TikTok, while exploring Reddit, Threads, newsletters, and community channels as needed.
- Maintain the content calendar and publishing cadence across website updates, maps, lists, calendars, articles, offline events, host stories, KOC or UGC content, city trends, and product entry points.
- Write captions, publish posts, reply to comments, handle DMs, route user questions, guide event sign-ups, and help convert social attention into early user relationships.
- Work with content strategy to turn campaigns, city themes, user segments, and product value propositions into platform-native content packages.
- Work with events operations to support event warm-up, recruitment, progress updates, on-site content, recaps, user feedback collection, and secondary distribution.
- Guide local editors, creator marketing interns, collaborators, and freelancers on topic selection, content standards, shooting needs, and material delivery.
- Build social media operations SOPs, including topic pools, asset libraries, publishing schedules, comment and DM escalation rules, Collab workflows, UGC permissions, account safety, and data reviews.
- Track and improve key metrics such as accounts reached, follower growth, engagement rate, saves, shares, comment quality, DM or group conversion, website clicks, event sign-ups, KOC collaborations, and UGC volume.
What We're Looking For
- 2-4+ years of experience in social media operations, content operations, city lifestyle media, brand content, or overseas market operations.
- Proven growth or operating results on Instagram or TikTok.
- Strong understanding of North American social media culture and New York's local content ecosystem.
- Strong English writing and social communication skills, including captions, comments, DMs, and creator briefs.
- Ability to balance content judgment with operational execution, including publishing, scheduling, data tracking, engagement, asset management, cross-team follow-up, and review.
- High sensitivity to user feedback, with a willingness to frequently read comments, DMs, community discussions, and platform trends.
- Ability to work across time zones and support high-frequency on-site collaboration during events.
Nice To Have
- Experience building a city account, lifestyle account, campus or interest-based community account, or brand social media matrix from 0 to 1.
- Experience with short-form video scripts, basic shooting or editing, on-camera content, or creator collaboration.
- Familiarity with Reddit, Discord, newsletters, Meta Business Suite, CapCut, Canva, Later, Buffer, or similar tools.
- Experience with KOC or creator partnerships, UGC, brand collaborations, or offline event integration.
- A portfolio, account case study, or social growth review is strongly preferred.
