Position Summary:
Loaves & Fishes is seeking a dynamic, on-the-ground Social Media Manager to execute and elevate our established social media strategy.
This is not a remote-only content role. The Social Media Manager must be physically present at meal sites, warehouse volunteer shifts, and special events to capture authentic, real-time content.
This role reports directly to the Communications Manager and works in lock step with ongoing communications strategy. A content calendar framework and strategic direction are already in place — this role is responsible for bringing that strategy to life with speed, creativity, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the established content calendar and social media framework developed by the Communications Manager.
- Attend meal services, warehouse operations, and events to capture real-time photo and video content.
- Create short-form video (Reels/Stories) and compelling visual storytelling aligned with brand guidelines.
- Conduct brief interviews with staff, volunteers, and partners to highlight impact and culture.
- Own day-to-day posting across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Tag partners, sponsors, and community organizations to expand reach and visibility.
- Actively manage engagement (comments, messages) in alignment with brand voice.
- Track performance metrics and provide monthly reporting with recommendations for optimization.
Onboarding & Success Criteria:
First 30 Days:
- Align fully with Communications Manager on voice, visual standards, and campaign priorities.
- Review and understand existing content calendar and framework.
- Begin on-site content capture at meal sites and warehouse.
First 60 Days:
- Independently execute weekly content cadence within established strategy.
- Increase engagement consistency and tagging discipline with partners.
- Deliver first performance summary with insights.
First 90 Days:
- Demonstrate consistent brand-aligned storytelling from the field.
- Show measurable growth in engagement and reach.
- Operate in lock step with Communications Manager on campaigns and priority initiatives.
Education & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Experience:2–5 years managing social media for a nonprofit, brand, or mission-driven organization. Demonstrated experience with short-form video creation and growing digital communities.
Position Qualities:Fast-moving self-starter; strong storyteller; comfortable in live environments; organized and deadline-oriented; creative, visually savvy, and passionate about community impact.
Compensation:
$20 per hour (DOQ). Part-time (20–25 hours/week). Flexible schedule with required on-site presence. Opportunity to elevate the voice of a 40+ year community institution.
