Job Description:
We are looking for a Freelance Local Marketing Manager who can drive real business results. This role is focused on customer acquisition, not just posting content. You will be responsible for planning and executing a marketing campaign that increases website traffic and generates new client requests.
The initial focus will be Instagram, combining organic content and paid ads. This role also includes capturing content in real time by occasionally accompanying Walk & Wag team members on pet walks to gather photos and short video for campaigns and ads. Additional assets will be provided.
Success in the first 90 days will be measured by increased website traffic and client inquiries. The contract will be reevaluated after 90 days, with a strong possibility of ongoing work managing Walk & Wag’s social media presence long term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a local Instagram marketing strategy focused on customer acquisition
- Plan and launch a 90-day marketing campaign for Walk & Wag
- Create and publish content that supports business goals, including posts, captions, and short-form video
- Plan, manage, and optimize targeted Instagram ads
- Capture original photo and video content by spending time in the field with Walk & Wag team members as needed
- Use local knowledge of Chapel Hill and Carrboro to guide targeting and messaging
- Track and report on performance metrics including ad engagement, website traffic, and client inquiries
- Adjust strategy based on performance and results
Requirements:
- Proven experience marketing a local, service-based business
- Strong understanding of Instagram marketing, including paid ads
- Experience tying social media efforts to business outcomes such as traffic and leads
- Ability to plan and execute campaigns from strategy through execution
- Clear, concise writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage projects
- Must live in or very near Chapel Hill with strong local market knowledge
Required Qualifications:
- Experience running paid Instagram campaigns for local businesses
- Comfort capturing photo and video content in real-world settings
- Familiarity with Canva or similar editing tools
- Video editing skills for Instagram Reels
- A genuine interest in pets and comfort working around animals
