Freelance Graphic Designer / Illustrator (Animal Mascots)

We’re looking for a graphic designer or illustrator who specializes in creating cute, engaging animal mascots—think Duolingo and Finch. This is a one-time project, but we’re interested in building a long-term relationship for future collaborations.

We are working with a client developing a mental wellbeing app designed to help users improve emotional intelligence and communication. The app focuses on self-awareness, empathy, and personal growth through engaging and interactive experiences.

To enhance the user experience, we are looking for a playful, emotionally expressive mascot that embodies warmth, encouragement, and support.

Role Description

This is a freelance, remote role for a Graphic Designer / Illustrator. The designer will be responsible for creating a visually appealing, character-driven mascot that aligns with the app’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Designing a cute, engaging animal mascot that fosters a sense of emotional connection and encouragement.
Ensuring the design is adaptable for digital and print applications (logos, app icons, UI elements, marketing materials, etc.).
Collaborating with our team and the client to refine and finalize the concept.
Maintaining brand consistency while bringing a fresh, creative touch.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

Strong illustration or graphic design skills with a focus on mascot design.
Experience in branding and character creation.
An eye for detail and a strong understanding of visual storytelling.
The ability to take feedback and iterate quickly.

Nice to Have:

Experience in animation or motion graphics.
A background in game design or mobile app art.
