Marketing Manager (Contract)

Summary

You will own the complete developer marketing strategy for an ecosystem designed to accelerate early-stage startups toward enterprise readiness. Working at the intersection of technical storytelling, developer advocacy, and strategic marketing, you will create credible, high-impact content that resonates with startup CTOs and engineering teams. This role requires someone who thinks like a builder, understands real developer workflows and decision points, and can translate complex technical capabilities into clear value propositions that developers trust and use. You will collaborate across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams to drive meaningful adoption and influence both product strategy and ecosystem programs. The position blends startup agility with enterprise-scale resources, offering the chance to build something foundational and highly visible that directly impacts thousands of developers worldwide.
Job Responsibilities
- Own and execute the end-to-end developer marketing strategy for startup developers and CTOs, ensuring alignment with ecosystem goals and enterprise readiness objectives
- Lead the creation of developer-focused technical content including tutorials, workflow guides, sample code narratives, product explainers, and integration documentation
- Define and implement repeatable content formats, templates, editorial standards, and scalable content systems that maintain technical credibility across teams
- Own distribution strategies across developer channels, using performance and usage data to optimize reach, engagement, and activation
- Partner with engineering, developer relations, industry marketing teams, and program stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and narrative alignment
- Conduct ongoing research into developer signals, needs, workflows, and adoption moments to build deep empathy for startup developers and technical founders
- Review developer engagement metrics to identify what content performs, where developers drop off, and which topics resonate with startup CTOs
- Evaluate channel performance, adjust distribution plans, and identify opportunities to reach developers through trusted communities and pathways
- Translate developer insights into actionable recommendations that influence product, marketing, and program strategy
- Manage editorial backlog, refine content briefs, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical assets
- Define success frameworks and measurement approaches for developer marketing initiatives, demonstrating impact through adoption milestones and engagement metrics
- Support ecosystem programs by creating technical content and channel strategies that drive developer participation and enterprise pipeline development
Requirements
- Three to five years of developer marketing experience with focus on technical content creation for developer audiences
- Two to four years of hands-on experience with cloud architecture and platform services
- Three to five years working with modern developer workflows and tooling ecosystems
- Proven track record creating technical content that developers actually use and trust
- Experience working directly with developers, engineers, or technical founders
- Background collaborating with engineering or developer relations teams to ensure technical accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable content systems or frameworks that maintain quality across teams
- Experience using performance data and developer signals to refine content strategy and optimize distribution
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing
- Developer marketing and technical content creation with hands-on experience producing tutorials, workflow guides, and technical explainers
- Cloud platform expertise with practical working knowledge of compute, AI/ML, data, security, and cost optimization services
- Deep familiarity with modern developer tooling including version control, CI/CD, code hosting, API integration, and open-source ecosystems
- Strong technical fluency enabling confident communication with engineers and technical founders
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, developer-ready content that builds trust and drives adoption
- Understanding of startup developer workflows, decision points, and how technical founders evaluate cloud platforms and AI tooling
- Data-driven approach to content strategy, channel optimization, and performance measurement
- Cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to partner effectively across engineering, product, and marketing teams
- Editorial and content operations capabilities including managing backlogs, defining standards, and maintaining quality at scale
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution ability to balance long-term planning with immediate content needs
- Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and how developers integrate AI capabilities into their applications
- Understanding of typical startup engineering stacks and the technical challenges faced by early-stage companies

- Pay Range*: $34 - $38.50 per hour
- Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
- Job Status: Non-Exempt
