Director of E-commerce & Growth (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Duration:4 months to start, could be potential to extend
Schedule: Part Time; 20-25 hours/ week
Pay: $80- 90/hr
Remote but open to coming on site for occasional meetings is ideal (NYC – Soho).
Overview
A fast-growing brand in the beauty and wellness consumer products industry is seeking a Freelance Director of Digital Marketing & E-commerce to lead digital revenue and growth. This parental leave coverage role oversees a small, high-performing digital and e-commerce team.
Responsibilities - Strategy & Leadership
- Own digital and e-commerce strategy tied to revenue, acquisition, and retention goals.
- Align digital KPIs with broader brand and business objectives.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with Brand, Creative, Product, and Operations.
- E-commerce
- Manage DTC site performance (traffic, conversion, AOV, repeat rate).
- Oversee merchandising, launches, promotions, and on-site content.
- Drive CRO via A/B testing, UX optimization, and personalization.
- Performance Marketing
- Set and optimize paid media strategy (search, social, display, affiliates, influencers).
- Manage agencies/partners, focusing on ROAS and efficient growth.
- Leverage audience data for segmentation and retargeting.
- CRM & Retention
- Oversee email, SMS, and loyalty programs.
- Define segmentation and personalization to drive LTV and repeat purchase.
- Analytics & Reporting
- Own digital dashboards and performance reporting for leadership.
- Track and optimize KPIs (CAC, ROAS, LTV, retention, site metrics).
- Omnichannel Collaboration
- Align digital efforts with retail/wholesale and brand campaigns.
- Support product and campaign launches with cohesive digital GTM plans.
- Interim Leadership
- Provide stable leadership during the parental leave period.
- Maintain momentum on key initiatives and ensure a smooth handoff.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in digital marketing and e-commerce, ideally in consumer products, beauty, wellness, or DTC.
- Proven success scaling a DTC e-commerce channel with strong revenue impact.
- Expertise in performance marketing and major e-commerce/analytics platforms.
- Experience in CRM, email/SMS, and lifecycle marketing.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and cross-functional communication skills.
