Focus: Print Catalog & Sales Collateral (no digital design)
Duration: 4 months

Overview
Fanatics is looking for a freelance
Product Catalog Designer to support our apparel and headwear business with best-in-class printed sales materials. This role is dedicated to
print-only design, producing multi-page catalogs and supporting collateral that help our sales teams and partners understand, position, and sell our products.
Working within our established brand standards and templates, you will transform product data, imagery, and copy into clear, visually compelling layouts. You will manage projects from initial layout and data integration through proofing and final, press-ready files, collaborating closely with our Collateral Manager and cross-functional partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and update multi-page product catalogs, assortments, and sales tools using Adobe InDesign, ensuring consistency with Fanatics brand guidelines.
- Build and refine template- and grid-based layouts that efficiently accommodate high volumes of SKUs, product variations, and pricing.
- Execute data merges from spreadsheets and product databases into InDesign documents, maintaining accuracy in product details, codes, and pricing.
- Collaborate with the Collateral Manager to interpret project briefs, prioritize work, and align on schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Partner with merchandising, product, and marketing teams to validate assortments, confirm product availability, and ensure licensing and branding requirements are met.
- Collect and organize all design assets (product photography, logos, artwork, copy) and integrate them into cohesive, easy-to-navigate layouts.
- Produce print-ready files with correct bleeds, color settings, resolution, and file formats for internal print rooms and external print vendors.
- Proof and QC all pages for data accuracy, visual consistency, pagination, and adherence to established templates prior to release.
- Manage multiple catalog and collateral projects simultaneously, adjusting layouts and content quickly in response to product changes and feedback.
- Document file structures and versioning so that catalogs can be efficiently updated and repurposed in future seasons.
Required Experience
- AA in Graphic Design (or related field) plus at least 1 year of professional design experience in print; BA in Graphic Design preferred.
- Portfolio demonstrating multi-page print layout work such as catalogs, lookbooks, line sheets, or other publication-style projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong command of print layout, typography, and information hierarchy for catalog-style pieces.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign on Mac; solid working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator for image prep and vector assets.
- Experience working with structured data (Excel, CSV, or database exports) and integrating that data into InDesign via data merge or similar workflows.
- High attention to detail with a focus on numerical and naming accuracy (SKUs, prices, sizes, colorways, page references).
- Understanding of print production requirements (CMYK color, bleeds, trims, imposition awareness, preflight checks, and file packaging).
- Ability to interpret brand guidelines and apply them consistently across large sets of pages and multiple collateral types.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle shifting priorities and tight timelines in a hybrid work environment.
- Clear, proactive communication style and comfort receiving and implementing feedback from multiple stakeholders.
