Social Media Manager (Paid Social)
Hybrid 3-days on site (in either Mountain View, CA OR San Diego, CA)
Overview
The Social Media Manager will oversee paid social strategy and execution across the full funnel, working closely with an external agency and internal stakeholders. The role is highly performance-driven, with significant budget oversight and a heavy emphasis on analytics, KPIs, and ROI—particularly during the high-pressure tax season (January–April).
The Social Media Manager will operate in a fast-paced environment, making ongoing decisions related to campaign optimization, budget allocation, and performance impact, and will transition into forward-looking strategy development following peak season.
Responsibilities
- Lead paid social efforts across the full funnel, overseeing all major social platforms
- Partner with and manage agency relationships, including approving campaign execution and strategic recommendations
- Manage large-scale paid social budgets and make data-driven decisions based on KPIs and ROI
- Analyze performance using internal reporting tools, including a Qlik Sense dashboard, and translate insights into actionable optimizations
- Monitor campaign performance and provide weekly impact updates
- Ensure strong strategic awareness of campaign content and how it supports overall performance goals
- Work within platform ad managers, including Meta, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snap, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, and others
- Navigate a high-pressure environment during peak tax season (January–April), then shift focus to longer-term strategy and planning for the following year
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across traditional marketing and communications teams
- Manage two direct reports (one full-time employee and one contingent worker)
- Participate in a two-week overlap period for training and transition
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in an agency or corporate environment, with direct experience in paid social
- Consumer or tech experience preferred; fintech or financial services experience is a plus
- Proven expertise across paid social advertising platforms such as Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, Snap Ads Manager, and others
- Deep understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snap, and emerging platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights and clearly summarize performance for senior leaders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to formulate a clear point of view and confidently articulate recommendations to stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort making decisions in-flight based on performance
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proactive, self-starting mindset with a strong desire to learn
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner across a broad range of stakeholders
