About the OpportunityTrue North Social is looking for a creative, reliable, and flexible freelance videographer and editor to help capture engaging social media content for our clients in Orange County.
Our initial projects will focus on Aliso Viejo Ice Palace and the Avalanche Hockey Club, capturing everything from fast-paced hockey action and team practices to rink activities, community events, and behind-the-scenes moments.
We're looking for someone who understands how to capture sports in motion and turn footage into engaging, social-first edits. Just as importantly, we need someone who can blend into an event, capture authentic moments, and tell a story without needing a lot of direction.
We're especially interested in videographers based in or near Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, or surrounding South Orange County areas. Since projects may include quick weekend visits and weekday evening events, we're looking for someone who can easily get to Aliso Viejo and has flexible availability.
This is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming videographer looking to gain experience, build their portfolio, and establish an ongoing relationship with a creative agency.
What You'll Do- Capture dynamic footage of hockey games, practices, rink activities, and special events.
- Create engaging short-form video edits for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other social platforms.
- Capture natural, candid moments at events with a documentary-style, fly-on-the-wall approach.
- Understand the pacing, energy, and storytelling that make sports content exciting.
- Work independently on location with minimal direction.
- Occasionally stop by for shorter shoots, including weekend games and weekday evening events.
- Deliver polished, social-ready video edits that align with each client's brand and content goals.
What We're Looking For- Experience shooting and editing video, ideally sports, events, or social media content.
- A strong eye for composition, movement, and visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with fast-paced, modern social media editing styles.
- Your own camera equipment and editing software.
- Comfortable shooting in indoor sports environments with fast-moving subjects and varying lighting conditions.
- Based in or near South Orange County, with easy access to Aliso Viejo preferred.
- Flexible availability, including occasional weekday evenings, weekends, and shorter 1–2 hour filming assignments.
- Reliable, communicative, and comfortable working independently.
- Ability to turn around edits in a timely manner.
You don't need years of professional experience! We're open to newer videographers with a great eye, solid editing skills, and a willingness to grow.
Compensation & Schedule$50/hour for filming and editing.
Typical projects involve approximately 2 hours of shooting and 2 hours of editing, though assignments may vary depending on the project.
This is an ongoing, project-based freelance opportunity with a flexible schedule. Shoots will be scheduled as needed, including occasional quick visits for weekend games, weekday evenings, and special events.
We're ideally looking for someone local who is interested in consistent opportunities as new projects and clients come up.
