About Spotter
Spotter is a student-founded fitness startup at the University of Maryland building a mobile app that gives lifters real-time feedback on their form, like having a personal trainer in your pocket. Our AI analyzes your lift through your phone’s camera and coaches you through every rep, with feedback tailored to your body. We’ve won UMD’s Luby Idea Track and Salisbury University’s Bernstein Competition, and we’re getting ready to launch. Now we need someone to tell our story.
The Role
We’re looking for a part-time Social Media Manager to own Spotter’s presence on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms. You’ll edit the short-form videos that introduce Spotter to the world and help plan and carry out our content campaign before and after launch. You’ll work directly with our co-founders and have real creative ownership.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and post to Spotter’s social media accounts (TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more)
- Edit short-form videos (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) from gym footage, app demos, and team content
- Plan, review, and carry out our content campaign leading up to and following launch
- Film content as needed, including gym sessions, app demos, events, and behind-the-scenes
- Track what’s working and adjust content based on engagement and analytics
Basic Qualifications
- Current UMD student, or local to the College Park area and available for occasional in-person work
- A portfolio or examples of short-form videos you’ve edited (personal accounts count)
- Hands-on experience with video editing tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn trends, formats, and audiences
- Reliable, organized, and able to commit 5–10 hours per week
Nice to Have
- Gym or lifting experience
- Startup experience or a startup mindset
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on creative ideas
Details
- Location: Hybrid, College Park, MD. Editing and account management can be done remotely; filming and team meetings are in person as needed.
- Hours: Part-time, about 5–10 hours per week, flexible around class schedules
- Compensation: $16–20/hour. We’re flexible on structure (hourly, per-project, or a package that includes equity) depending on fit.
