Job Title: Technical Writer – Security Products
Location: San Jose, CA 95134 (preferred); other locations considered: Raleigh, NC 27709 and Atlanta, GA 30350
Work Setting: Hybrid, onsite 3 days per week

Role Overview Our client's technical communications team is seeking an experienced technical writer with a strong background in security documentation for networking products. The successful candidate will create clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly technical content, including installation guides, release notes, and user content for a range of networking security products.
This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams. Candidates should be comfortable working in lab environments and interpreting technical data. No prior experience with this specific client is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed end-user documentation for security products.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Create installation guides, release notes, and other user content.
- Organize and present complex technical information in a clear, concise, and logical manner for various personas (end users, installers, and support staff).
- Edit and update existing documentation to reflect product updates and new features.
- Follow established standards and templates for technical writing and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience writing security documentation for networking products (minimum 4 years preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.).
- Proficient in authoring tools such as Oxygen XML, Markdown, or similar.
- Experience with project management and issue-tracking platforms like Atlassian Jira.
- Experience working in cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience with content management systems like Adobe Experience Manager or similar.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience transforming content to be AI-ready, enabling end users to find information quickly and easily, in line with the client's AI content strategy.
