Location: On-site (Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC metropolitan area)
Pay Rate: $38.87/hour + $5.09/hour Health & Welfare Benefit = $43.96/hour Total Compensation
Schedule: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract Assignment

Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Writer II to support a long-term government-related project. This position is primarily remote; however, candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area as occasional onsite work may be required in the future.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, edit, and revise technical reports, manuals, procedures, guides, and other documentation.
- Develop and maintain documentation for internal use, customer reference, and publication.
- Analyze technical information and verify content accuracy with subject matter experts and appropriate departments.
- Organize and present complex information in a clear, concise, and standardized format.
- Create and update materials related to operational procedures, work methods, equipment maintenance, and system functionality.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the development of proposals, briefs, instructional materials, and administrative publications.
- Select and coordinate the use of charts, diagrams, photographs, and illustrations to enhance documentation.
- Maintain document control processes, revision histories, and records management.
- Support publication, distribution, and formatting of technical materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure documentation aligns with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 to 4 years of professional technical writing experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating and editing technical documentation, reports, manuals, or procedural guides.
- Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into user-friendly content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with document version control and publication processes.
- Experience working with technical diagrams, specifications, engineering documentation, or operational procedures.
Additional Requirements

- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Must reside locally to the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
- Ability to occasionally report onsite if business needs require.
