Position Overview
CH is seeking a creative, tech-savvy Social Media Coordinator (freelance hourly) to manage its social channels. The SMC is responsible for creating and managing a monthly social media calendar, biweekly newsletter through Mailchimp, and creating and scheduling posts on Instagram and Facebook.
This role is for someone with a strong knowledge of social media (Instagram and Facebook) and a passion for backpacking, hiking, and camping.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement monthly social media calendar that supports broader company objectives.
- Create, schedule, and publish content on Instagram and Facebook, including posts, stories, and reels, that connects with and engages CleverHiker core demographic (primarily U.S.-based 20-50-year-olds who are passionate about backpacking, hiking, and camping)
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with the community using the CleverHiker voice and style.
- Analyze and report on social media performance and suggest shifts in content focus as needed.
- Create and schedule a biweekly newsletter using Mailchimp, including soliciting contributions from other members of the CleverHiker team, writing copy, and locating photos in the CleverHiker media library.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Instagram and Facebook, including best practices for consumer engagement and growth.
- Passion for backpacking, hiking, and camping, and outdoor gear.
- Proven experience managing social media accounts in the outdoor industry and/or personal accounts that demonstrate a passion for the outdoors.
- Experience with Mailchimp or similar email marketing platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate new ideas and content.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
