Growth Lead — Market Ontology
$5,000/month initially · Results-based renewal · Potential to increase to $30,000/month
I’m hiring a hands-on growth lead to help build Market Ontology toward $1M in monthly recurring revenue.
Your mandate: acquire customers, create demand, and build distribution that expands every month.
You will own turning the product’s capabilities into compelling propositions, getting those propositions in front of suitable buyers, and converting interest into paying customers. You should be comfortable writing, producing demonstrations, launching campaigns, building partnerships, following up, and closing sales.
What you’ll be selling
Market Ontology is an investment research platform that connects economic data, policy decisions, geopolitical developments and company disclosures to the assets, investment assumptions and portfolio exposures they can affect.
It helps users trace direct and second-order effects across companies, sectors, commodities, currencies and rates, then carry that research into investment theses, scenarios, trade research, holdings reviews and ongoing monitoring.
The product supports questions such as:
- “I expect interest rates to fall. Which positions express that view—and under what conditions?” Investigate transmission mechanisms, compare affected assets and identify the assumptions each investment case depends on.
- “How many of my holdings depend on the same assumption?” Examine shared exposures and dependencies that may be obscured by owning different companies.
- “What has to be true for this company’s valuation to make sense?” Research the business, inspect evidence, and examine revenue, margin and valuation assumptions.
- “Higher oil prices hurt airlines—but how consistently, and over what horizon?” Specify a research question, choose controls, estimate the response and inspect uncertainty and limitations.
- “What new information should make me reconsider this thesis?” Save relevant conditions and monitor developments that could change the investment case.
- "How does unfolding geopolitical conflict and risk impact my holdings and what opportunities does it create?"
- "What is the effect of an event or macroeconomic data release on specific asset prices, which way will the price likely move based on prior evidence and current conditions, and what trades or arbitrage setups can exploit mispricings created by the event?"
Your marketing should make these capabilities understandable through real product outputs: what someone can ask, what MO produces, how that helps their next decision, and why they would return.
Our initial customer hypotheses include sophisticated individual investors, macro and event-driven traders, options researchers, and professional analysts and small investment teams. You will test these hypotheses, find stronger segments where appropriate, and identify the recurring jobs people will pay MO to perform.
What you’ll own
- Search acquisition: Identify valuable searches, write ads, build matching demonstrations and landing pages, launch campaigns, and expand profitable buyer-problem and keyword groups.
- Paid social: Turn actual workflows into compelling screen recordings, static creatives and founder demonstrations. Develop distinct concepts, launch them, and improve the complete path from impression to payment.
- Professional outbound and sales: Research suitable accounts, write relevant email and LinkedIn outreach, demonstrate useful workflows, handle objections and own follow-up through purchase.
- Organic distribution and SEO: Publish substantive demonstrations on LinkedIn and X, participate in relevant conversations, and develop useful research pages, examples and tools that attract qualified demand over time.
- Partnerships: Initiate newsletter sponsorships, creator collaborations, affiliate relationships, professional-group demonstrations and other distribution opportunities.
- Conversion and repeatable execution: Improve offers, purchase paths and first-use experiences. Build systems for creative production, prospect research, demonstrations and follow-up that increase output without requiring proportionally more founder time.
One strong proposition should support several routes to customers. A demonstration of hidden portfolio exposure, for example, could become a search campaign, a short video, a paid-social creative, a useful landing page, targeted professional outreach and a newsletter partnership.
These are starting points. You should bring better opportunities and put them into market.
Initial execution expectations
Our proposed starting benchmarks are:
- Two or three distinct buyer-problem search campaigns live in week one.
- Six initial paid-social creatives, followed by two or three substantive new concepts each week.
- An initial list of 300–500 suitable professional accounts, with tailored outreach and follow-up every business day.
- Three substantial product demonstrations each week, supported by daily distribution.
- Outreach to 20–30 relevant distribution partners during the first month.
- A functioning sales pipeline with a clear owner and next action for every opportunity.
You will help prioritize this agenda within an agreed acquisition budget. These counts establish execution pace; commercial success means new paying customers, new recurring revenue and acquisition economics that support continued growth.
You’ll have direct founder access, authority to launch and revise campaigns within agreed spending limits, and creative or research support where useful.
Compensation and accountability
The engagement starts at $5,000 per month, with renewal based on agreed commercial results.
Compensation can increase up to $30,000 per month if you demonstrate sustained high ROAS and profitable customer acquisition at meaningful scale. Increases are performance-dependent, not automatic. Advertising spend is a separate, agreed budget.
We will assess paying customers, collected revenue, acquisition costs, ROAS and customer retention, with attribution and measurement periods agreed in advance.
How to apply
Review marketontology.com and submit one specific campaign you would launch for Market Ontology.
Keep the proposal concise—approximately one page—and include:
- The buyer and job: Who exactly are you targeting, what are they trying to accomplish, and why would they pay?
- The acquisition route: Which channel would you choose, and what searches, targeting or prospect criteria would you use?
- The actual message: Write an example ad or outreach message and describe the creative or product demonstration.
- The purchase path: Where does the person land, what proof do they see, and what makes subscribing the logical next step?
- The economics and decision: Propose a budget, state your assumptions, and explain when you would continue, revise, stop or scale.
Use what you can infer from the website and this description. Identify any assumptions that need validation. Choose the campaign you believe offers the strongest commercial opportunity; you are welcome to go beyond the examples above.
Also include one or two acquisition results you personally owned, with your responsibilities, spending, timeframe, and resulting customers or revenue.
- Apply with your campaign proposal, relevant results and profile.
